Feeling the Heat

To Whom It May Concern:

Despite my innate tendency to trust, I'm afraid I simply cannot believe the extended burn times and prodigious heat output claimed by BK owners here on this forum.

Therefore, I am giving you an opportunity to prove their claims correct and accurate.

This will involve free delivery and installation of a BK Chinook 20 to the address provided below.

On receipt, I will subject the Chinook to rigorous testing and publish the results no later than Spring 2013... or 2014... or thereabouts.

I trust this arrangement will be viewed as propitious, and sanctioned and endorsed by you.

Thank You In Advance for your prompt attention to this matter.

Respectfully,

Peter B.

And why would anyone else believe the results you'll get any more than you believe the ones being posted now?

BK gets all the free press they need from the stove owners on this site, they don't need to give away stoves. :)

HehHeh . . . reminds me of a time in my past when I used to write a humor column for a weekly paper (Chewin' the Cud) . . . one time I wrote about my snoring problem . . . next thing I knew Breathe Right Nasal Strips litterally sent me 10 or 15 boxes full of their strips since they said it had helped many snorers . . . of course this prompted me to write a second column complaining about other issues such as the fact that my 1987 Subaru GL was painfully slow and that a nice, new Corvette would sure be a nice solution to that problem . . . I'm still waiting for the Corvette and have 14 or so unused boxes of nasal strips.

... As Further Inducement ...

The stove the Chinook 20 would replace has a comparably sized (usable) firebox. It is now just over 100 years old... and it might constitute an advertising coup to perform a comparison test.

Sorry Peter B., you're just a little too late!

We sent your free Chinook to Fairbanks Alaska. Today, through on-line warranty registration, Michael XXXXX responded to the purchase in the following wording:

"I grew up with Blaze King, (a King and a Princess Insert), so when I bought
my own home, I knew what I'd use to heat it. Our home is a leaky log home
with three floors in Fairbanks, Alaska. We have a Blaze King, King Model, in
the basement and absolutely love it. We can be gone all day and come home to
a warm house with an active fire. We recently purchased a Chinook 30 to
replace another brand of stove on our main floor. (We have this stove to
supplement the heat on the main floor when it's 40 below zero so the
basement doesn't have to be kept at 90 degrees). With our old stove, it was
hard to keep it above 68 degrees and I had to light new fires all the time.
We installed the Chinook when the weather warmed to 20 degrees. We decided
to test it; with one load of wood it kept our house at 77 degrees for 1 1/2
days. We'll save it for below zero temperatures. Thank you for all your
great products."

Perhaps you can get a free stove next year and thank you to all the folks that purchase our products!

Forget about it,all claims are true if they weren't I'd be the first to acknowledge I've had 5 woodstoves all high end big $ since 2004,my latest acquisition is here to stay ,unless I trade or sell it for a Parlor model. Next month will be one year old great stove more heat than I'll ever need ,economical to run, loves dry wood ,what you put in it you'll get out of it. No stove comes close trust me if there was a better heater I'd own it.

Are there any BK owners in the Central Ohio area. I'd love to stop by and see your stove in action. Before I bought my last stove I did visit a home with a Defiant. I figured a visit was the best way short of ponying up the dollars to check out a different stove.

So you concede it was MY Chinook...

Why is it that it was sent to someone else?

Oh, well... I fully expect my name to be at the very top of the list for that 'free stove next year'.

How much are these blaze king stoves? If they burn half the wood, they might be worth the cash.

Nothing to see, brother. Big, ugly stove with black, nasty glass. I want to see your Elm.
