Wherever we're parked
Title says it all. I burned 4.5 tons for the entire winter in the P43
last winter. At this point, last year, I was into Ton#4, & I had broken
my snowblower three times...I'm not at all upset with the way THIS
winter's panning out... Eastern Europe & parts of Russia are in the
MINUS 20 °F range, so I'm sure they're not happy campers...I guess
we DESERVED a break after experiencing the whacked out tropical
storms last August...

I hear you Bob.

Bag #1, ton #4 is partially in the hopper.

The folks in Europe and even North Africa are getting blasted this year. But you really didn't want to be in Alaska this winter.

Temperatures down to -59, wind chills below -85, and snow measured in yards isn't a wonderful thing.

I haven't even finished #2 yet. Still got 15-20 bags to go before #3.

Seeing #3 and #4 are top-shelf expensive stuff. I will need to get a ton of shoulders soon!

I'm right around the beginning of ton 3, hard to say since I pull off different skids depending on the weather conditions.

The down side to the lack of winter and especially the snowfall will be the lack of water in streams and ground with no melt off when the temps start to warm up.

Not even through my first ton yet for my garage :) I think I have about 6 or 7 bags left.

DAKSY,

I'm right along with you.

Ton #3 Bag 1 goes in tonight.
This year I have burned
1 Ton Maine's Choice. Decent Shoulder pellet high ash middle of road heat. Minimal fines. Strong bags.
1 Ton Okanagan's. Great heat pellet. Good Ash. Surprisingly lot of fines. Decent Bags.
Few random left over bags of Vermont's and Old (white bag - pinetree) Okanagan's

Picked up a ton of Platinum Fire's yesterday.
First bag goes in today.

Nice to heat the house for a season for under $800
HHO Oil here is $3.65 a gallon at 600 gallons for a year I would have spent $2190.
At that price difference I will pay for the New Stove in under 3 years. Good return on investment.

Loving the warm temps but really looking forward to some snow this year.
Besides I don't think I have really had to heat test my new M55C over a long period.

I still have 13 bags left before I reach the 3-digit bag count. At today's price of $3.539/gallon and using about 450 gallons for heating I would have spent close to $1600 compared to the $488 I spent on pellets. Oh and the house is MUCH more warmer.

Usually well into ton #3 by now, but only half way thru #2 thanks to this mild winter.
Lovin it....

2 tons gone fer me so far, used to be 2 tons would do me per winter in my last slightly smaller house used to burn on a 1-2 never a 3

Ton 4 Bag 1 tomorrow.

almost done w/ ton 3. glad to see some mainers are on this pace. was wondering what i was doing wrong.

next winter i'll be more prepared with some house improvements being made this spring.
the biggest one probably being doing our "enclosed" back/side porch properly.

right now it's only casually attached to the house. lol
it's getting sided and foam insulated along with the rest of the house. and fully joined and sealed to the house.
it's just problematic since that door is right by the back bedroom in the bottleneck that is most critical to keeping that room warm.

You have to forgive those from the warmer southern climates, they know not the chill of winter.

Hell, I had 8 below the other day. Had 2 stoves running at 2+ bags a day in each stove.

Just started into ton #3 late last week.

I'll be doing the same thing as Jay....the search is on for some decent shoulder pellets.

Maybe a new club should be started. The 5 Ton per Year Club.

we still have 28 bags of pellets left from the 2 tons that came with the stove, but we only started burning mid december when we got our stove.

last winter we spent about $2000 on oil and with the prices $1 more a gallon we would have easily spent another $800 or more on top of that this year.

the house is much warmer with the stove.

Our stove was out of commission for 2 days and I just cringed having to turn the furnace on. I set it on 60 degrees LOL! I refused to turn it higer.

This summer we plan on replacing the weather stripping on the doors and putting plastic on a few of the windows we never open anyway. I am thankful we have good insulation and thick walls.

when we cut the hole for the stove we cut through dryway, then over and inch thick of plaster and lathing, then a true 2" thick wood board, then 5 inches all stuffed with blown in insulation, then another true 2" thick wood board then the steel siding. house built in 1870 - when they knew how to build them!

8 bags of ton #2 left yet, and 2 more tons in waiting. Used 4 ton last year. It would be nice if I ended the season with 2 ton left over for next year yet. I would suspect that we should see some good season end prices to load up on.

Just broke into # 3...4 tons left in storage. no snow in upstate NY...very strange, however with the second 100 year flood in 5 years and losing my rental property, nice to have a good break! Don't think groundwater will be a problem this summer.

1st bag of ton #3 goes in tonite, i'll take this weather any time !!!!!

Passed over the 3 ton territory on February 8. As of yesterday we are 700 heating degrees less the norm. Normal is 3200 only 2500 since July..I too am seeking the shoulder pellet score and hopefully next seasons heat.
