Does anyone have the Osburn 2000 wood insert? How long of burn times are you getting? Are you happy with it? I have a smaller fire place and think the 2000 would be a great replacement for my Dutch West DW2500 insert.

Try searching 'osburn 2000'. There is at least 1 other member, 'Kallsop' that has posted.
You may find what you need while you are waiting for responses.

Good luck

I have the baby brother to the 2000 and I really like it. Blower is a bit loud on the higher speeds but at med-low it's good. Mine has the 1.8 ft3 firebox vs the 2.3. It has no trouble heating the 1000 ft2 main floor and 400 ft2 upper floor.

We are on the first winter with our Osburn 2000 insert, and have burned exclusively EnviBlock-8's. Most days I load in the morning and sometimes there are enough coals from the night before to restart the fire, more often not. 4 Envi's go in, usually the first one across the back and three perpendicular with the far end raised up and resting on the first. Couple of sheets of paper and the fire is started. Damper wide open until the bricks are all about 50% black, then push damper in about half way. When the temp is up around 450 to 500, measured with a thermometer on the stove front next to the top left of the door, damper goes in about 90%. Temps creep up over 550, then damper goes all the way in and leave it alone for 6 to 8 hours. Rinse and repeat! We heat the entire first floor, 2400 sq. ft. modern colonial, and enough heat gets upstairs to keep the chill off. There is oil heat for backup and it does run a little for the upstairs, but not much at all and so far our winter oil bill looks to be about the same as the summer bills, usage driven by hot water demand. So typically we use 12 Envi-8's per day. This has been a mild winter in CT. On the coldest days we might use 16 Envi-8's. The downstairs stays in the 68-74F range, seeing 68 in the morning. I leave the insert blower on its lowest setting. If I want to heat the house quicker in the morning, I might turn up the blower for 15 minutes. Our 6" stainless chimney liner is about 20 ft, uninsulated. The brick chimney is build in a wall that is common to the house and unheated garage. The draft is good, but noticeably stronger on the colder days. I might insulate the chimney/liner before next winter. The stove has a block off plate with some Roxul above that.

Thank-You all for your replies. Kallsop; Thanks for your in depth reply. I am really looking to get the 2000. It looks like a beast for under $2000 bucks. I will be heating a well insulated 1200 sq ft main floor and a 500 sq ft upstairs. I really want the overnight burns I will be burning mainly red oak and ash and some black locust. I heat the main living area now with a Dutch West insert by Vermont Castings; it has only a 1.3 cubic ft fire box so I think the 2000 will blow us away. My DW will get the main living area up to 75 degrees when the temp outside is in the mid 30's; however because the fire box is so small I have to load it up quite offen and that gets old. My liner to is uninsulated and I do not have that damper plate you mentioned I wonder what Im missing not having it? Thanks again for your help.
