Good evening Hearth gurus,

I recently got my hands on Model 26 stove by Buck Stove Company. The model was just recently discontinued but I have not seen much information/opinion on this stove on the net other than vendors advertising them for sale. It is EPA certified and listed.

I got it for $250 as the guy was moving and wanted it out of the house. It just needed a new coat of stove paint and a couple of new bricks. The secondary burn tubes were in great shape also. It will be replacing an old pre-EPA stove (Morninglow).

Anyone out there with opinions on the company or this stove in particular? I have called the company and they seem very helpful - sent a manual to me at no charge. They also informed me that the design has not changed since its introduction back in the early 90s.

Any input appreciated.

Wayne

I have never heard anything but good about Buck stoves from the people around where I live. And that is a bunch of wood stove for two hundred and fifty bucks in good condition.

I looked at their inserts but the big ones require an 8" flue that I don't have.

One or out participating members Karen Duker of Victoria Fireplace sell the Buck line she advertises on this site I agree with BB quality stoves soulds like you got a steal

I don't have any personal experience with them but have never heard anything bad about them. But any modern day wood stove for 250 is a good deal.

My father-in-law has a Buck 26. HE LOVES IT! In his opinion it is the only stove made. (He has been trying to talk me into buying one for years.) He bought it shortly after they began making it and has used it almost every year since. (He stopped using it as a primary heat for 2 or 3 years due to health reasons, but is now using it again.)
