What size wheel do I need to use for sharpening a .325 Stihl RSC chisel chain? Is it the 1/8 or 3/16 wheel? I've came across conflicting info, so where better to ask than here? Thanks.

I think its the 1/4 inch stone....

hey smokin
You sure the 1/4 stone? The 1/4 is for the rakers or sharpening a .404 chain!!!

use the 1/8 in. wheel. i doand it's the correct one.

i touch up with a 5/16 file.

1/4 inch is use on 3/8 chains. If I rember right the last .325 I done I use the 1/4 inch wheel. But swearing to it.

Looks like Oregon says to use the 3/16 for their .325 chisel and semi chisel chains (20LPX/20BPX). Assuming that would be ok for the Stihl chain too, exactly why I had asked. ;-)

Thanks Artmos. Like I said in my OP, I have heard various responses depending on the source. Read the manual but didn't say anything about Stihl chain. I thought about giving the 1/8 a try, I think I will and see what I get.

The Stihl chains I use say 33 RSC 72 on the package. I figure they're 3/8th.
My Timbertuff grinder came with 3 wheels. I've been using the middle sized one.... the 3/16.
Seems to work fine.

yeah 3/16 for the 3/8 chain. I sharpened my .325 chain today with the 1/8 wheel and took the rakers down a bit. Cuts great! Thanks guys.
