I don't like to pay more than half for used items but that's just me. If it really is 'only 3 mo. old' than it might be a deal. Do some more homework on the new prices. The OBO part sounds better.

If 3 month old and not abused, that's a very good deal. Hustle down to Wallingford if this is a good fit and you are looking for a nice stove.

In the Northeast, the T Series models do not come up in the used market very often, and when they do, the price is still quite high. $1,600 is about as good as you can do. Over the last five years I think I've seen one or two listed at a lower price, but they are few and far between. If the price is within your budget and the stove is what you are looking for, you might as well purchase it as there is no guarantee you will see one listed at a lower price.

Always worries me when someone sells a 3 month old item. Maybe they just moved in and want it gone but besides that how can you take such a loss?

A few things you would want to look at would be the stainless baffle in the top of the unit, that is the home for the secoundary fire. Make sure that is in decent shape it is quite an expensive part to replace, and the rail system on the sides that hold the baffle up and the side fire bricks in place, is also pricey for the kit it is stainless and has some ceramic blanket . My concerns with these items is if the stove is run to hot (burning coal, and or over firings) these tend to see alot of that heat leading to warping and burn throughs.

The first thing to make sure of is that the ad is real and not a hook from someone in Africa. If it's legit, I would pursue. There could be any number of reasons why they need a quick sell. Moving, got too small a stove, got a good initial price, etc.

How does the t5 compare to the 30. Seems like t5 would be a bit less heat.

That's looks to be a steel. You have like four stoves in your signature. Which are you looking to swap out? Or are you going to have five stoves? I hope the answer is five stoves. That would be insane. And this place is chuck full of lunatics. That's probably why I love it here.

Number 5 :coolsmirk: . I would put it in place of the 30. The 30 is in my dinning room and the t5 would be easier on the eyes :gulp: . Sorry Brother Bart! Not sure what I would do with the 30, just bought it last year. I love Englander, used to have 2 of their furnaces.

I agree with you BeGreen.....that sounds like a great deal, he just has to be careful it isn't a scam or something. It's definately worth checking it out, let us know how you make out!

If the stove is legit, I would expect it to be gone by now. But no, this is not a good replacement for the 30NC if that stove is right sized for the job. Though if replacing the Dutchwest, could be ok.

I made a ridiculous offer of $1000 but they declined. I figured if I could get it that low I could try it with the new insulation job and if it didn't cut it I'd go back to the 30. Hope the 30 didn't here me speak such talk
