I love mine too Pete, do you have a key damper also? With primary air control and my damper its like operating a gas stove...precise. The top load is great for banking during single-digits, sweeping the chimney, and now cooking.

Great job,
Jim

No I do not have a key damper and really don't need one from what I see. I would not want to put any holes in the double wall stainless either as it defeats the purpose of the stainless in the chimney. I was very surprised I got it going for a cure yesterday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised that a softwood load still had hot embers this morning at 7:55 not many but they where there long after the loading. It is a very impressive stove to say the least!

Pete,

Congrats my friend on your new stove. It is a beautiful wood stove indeed...

Hi Pete,

My son is running splitter when needed. As for my back, it has been a slow process. I am waiting on approval to go to Dynamic Rehab Center. From there I will be evaluated and begin rehabilitating my back.

God is good and seeing me through this time in my life. Even though I am unable to do my normal routine because of my back issues, I am hanging in there Pete.

As for you my friend, you are getting alot of attention here at Hearth concerning your new toy! I don't think your getting all that attention just because of your new stove Pete. It's because your a very nice individual also...

Stay well, stay toasty my friend

Fredo

Welcome to Club Rangeley! :cheese: I've had mine since September of 2011 and it's my first wood stove. I can't say enough good about it. I agree that it does take off quickly and I've gotten many a "12 hour burn" out of it using nothing but poorly seasoned slab wood. We don't use the top load any more since we got our steamer kettle. It seems to me that top-loading is more for a mid-cycle addition of wood and the stove burns so efficiently, we have no need for it. Good luck with the stove! You're going to enjoy it for many years, as I know I will.

Very nice stove!

My BIL has an old VC Resolute III and I enjoy loading the stove from a standing position. :cheese:

Thanks for the compliment ! When I was injured and couldn't walk it was so depressing I was not in proper mindset at that point in my life. It is very good to hear you are hanging in there my friend. I have discovered in the search for this stove that there are so many good ones I could not decide and needed my wife to say that one and put her foot down  every time I thought I had decided another amazing stove appeared and I was hooked on that one. Thank goodness for wives! She is a true keeper and a good foot kicker for me lol. All you hearth members are great and there is a huge wealth of knowledge here in the data base. It is interesting that we chose a relatively young stove but it works amazing. I did talk to your dealer and almost bought from him what a nice dealer he is too.

Thanks Scott I was trying to do a small cure load but it wound up shooting to 480 lol so that did not happen ! I am surprised at how long the coal bed lasted my previous re-burn tube experience was not half as good as this stove is. My only complaint is the air control sticks at times and is a bit tough to move when it sticks. I will call my dealer an they will resolve it fast I am sure as it was a floor model and they are great to work with.

Well with a new stove and lots of new insulation you should be comfortable for a long time Pete. That insulation will also be great next summer and yes, it does quiet the outdoor noise. I may stop in Monday if possible to see the stove.

We will be home around 6 if you wanna check it out Dennis I will be firing it back up around then too. It is so warm inside right now I can't wait for the cold to come back so I can let her rip and test out the insulation to. It's toasty right now on low we are loving it !
