That'll keep you out of trouble for a while. :cheese:

WOW*** Sweet!
You didn't waste any time. You're getting after it :)
Have fun!!
Roughly how many cords you think?

Nice going maple man.

My friend is a logger and he gave me a big load about 8 courds it was 700 dollars and I got cutting and spliting with in 10 min of it getting dropped it will keep me busy fore a long time

I've gotten "free fire wood" that cost almost that much to get processed & hauled home.
Great Deal !!
With your enthusiasm, I bet you only have 2 weeks or less of cutting & splitting :)

I was hoping to get this CSS in 2-3 weeks and then get another one to get 3-4 years ahed so it good and seasond

i will be using that wood next season 2012/2013 this is my first year burning so far i have used 2.5 courds this winter burning all day and night

Now you're thinking ahead !! A big key to successful wood burning is being ahead.
That the best way, then you 'll be abel to season it well & have good dry fire wood starting next season & next>>>> Next year you may have winter.
Got some pallets or a way to stack the splits stacked off the ground, in single rows with some separation between rows in an area the gets some wind ???
More pictures as the splits pile/stack up would be nice :)
(jealousy here. LOL If I lived close I'd come & help :)

i will post pix as i go and yes i ame getting pallets to stack on maby i will build a shed i dont know i will post pix after school tomarow going to cut and split more tomorow then stack cut and split two days stack one

Nice load of wood, and not too bad of a price either. keep after it, before you know it da buds will be popping on da trees and da song birds will be a-singin.......

it might be wise to go a little smaller on the splits, they will season faster, that is untill You get futher ahead ...At least 2 cords IMO.

On pallets, looks great!
Keep the pictures coming, they keep me motivated :)

Will post more pix tomorrow but then iame going on a vacation next week so no pix next week

Somebody's been readin up here on the hearth. I'm with you bro. Working on year 3 myself. I had a terrible time burning with less than stellar wood (to say the least) last year and am bound and sworn it will NEVER happen again. Good healthy work ahead of you. Enjoy it.

If it were me I wouldn't put another row on those pallets in front of this one. Single rows will dry much quicker and you need quick for next year. I cut my pallets in half and stack everything single file but it also depends on the space you have. When I get 3 ahead and am working on year 4, I'll probably stack them close together as they will have plenty of time. Just sayin.. :blank:

the stacks are 3.5 feet tall and 10 feet long they are 1 foot apart in the middle i have ben reading alot on hearth.com it is the best

I wouldn't split them all smaller, especially if you are going to get several years ahead. What I like to do however is when I get a nice straight grained round is to split it down to small pieces and mix in with the rest. Then when I'm bringing wood in I have several sizes. The smaller ones are nice to mix in if you are really packing it as they can fill in the cracks. Also nice if you only need a small fire on a marginal day.

Yet another unit of measure. How much is a courd? Is this a NY term?
