Central MA
Been burning the three tons of Fireside Ultras I bought when we installed the stove in mid Nov. Have been happy with the results, pretty clean, not much ash pretty good heat. I had nothing to compare them with. Well all I can say is WOW. These Turmans burn much hotter, much cleaner and did I mention much hotter. Only been through 5 bags but even with the relatively warm weather I can certainly tell the difference. Also bought a ton of Barefoots to try out. Figure I'll run 10 bags of the Turmans then try the Barefoots for comparison. I did notice they appear to be smaller pellets than the FU's which may contribute to the additional heat (more exposed surfaces).

I also live in central mass and am new to pellet stoves. Where did you buy the turmans and barefoots? I am trying to find local places to buy pellets. Thanks!

If you're in Central MA, you have to go to Pellets Direct in Uxbridge to try out some different pellets. They have a great selection and really nice people to deal with. Can definitely get Barefoots there. Robbins Garden Center in Oxford has a good selection too. You'll find the Turmans there along with some really expensive Blazers and North Idaho Wood Pellets.

Glad to hear you like the Turmans....very nice pellet, as are the Barefoots. But with the mild weather, don't burn too many. Save them for really cold weather (hopefully not until next winter). Burn the FU's.

But DO test burn a few bags of the Barefoots too.

Still loving my Trebio's lol 150 a ton from uxbridge.

I hear you! The price was right but the Trebio's do produce some ash and do not burn as hot as the Geneva's I have. But the price was too good to turn down! RT

I!ve heard of pellets direct and Robbins and will take a road trip some day to check them out. Do you know of any places north of Worcester? I would like to try some brands other than whatshows up at Lowes or Home Depot. Thaks.

Hubbards Farm in Princeton is where i get my Barefoots and Turmans. Competitive prices and Glen and Nancy are great folks to deal with

I had been burning AWF and had the opportunity to buy a ton of Turmans and really like them, I get a cleaner burn and better heat.

I had Hubbards Farm in Princeton deliver the Turmans and Barefoots. The delivery costs are quite competative and they are really great to do business with. We live a long three iron from the farm. Working on a cost comparative between the Turmans and the FUs. We have a pretty big space to heat and I was running the stove at 7 or 9 for most of this season with the FUs to maintain a steady 68 degrees. With the Turmans I'm down to running it at 2 or 3 and the temp never drops below 70. Granted it's been pretty warm and we get great benefit with the bright sun but this truly impresses me. A lot less carrying bags, a lot less ash, a lot less cleaning a lot more heat. Worth the price difference? You bet it is. And as for cost, my propane bill ran $5000 last heat season, this year I've had one fill up of 400 gallons at $2.89/gallon. My guess is if I had been burning the Turmans that would have been considerably less. With some cold weather coming I'll get a better feel for the difference.

I stopped experimenting after a couple seasons because the Turman burn so well in my stove. My brother gave me a couple bags of Ambiance to try, and I have seen some good reviews. In my stove anyway, Ambiance produced a LOT more ash than Turman. Will be sticking with my Turman.

You thought FU were good? Those are only slightly higher on my list than Infernos. You'll never go back after trying the Turmans and the Barefoots!Goodluck and goodpellets!
