This morning I heard a strange noise on our stove and realized the front re-burn tube was rattling and thought it was some what odd. It is wrapped in a cast iron sleeve that has come slightly loose ( it was a display model stove ) so I called my dealer who talked to Jotul. The response was instant my phone rang and I heard hello I am calling from jotul I heard you where having an issue with your new stove could you disceribe it to me? I almost teleported to wherever they called me from and hugged that lady after our harman disaster! Long story short they told me how to to check all the screws on the baffle and make sure it was tight problem solved no noise. Here is the best part! we will ship you a baffle free of charge to replace the faulty one if this does not fix it ! WWHHAATT! They didn't even care about the fact that it was a display model so thank you Jotul for making me the happiest customer in the world you rock!

Satisfied customer ( so far )

That's the kind of service makes for repeat customers and also those customers tell friends. This is what makes a business sucessful and grows.

Haven't had any problems yet but nice knowing they'll be there when i need them. That front tube is the rod that the baffle rotates on as a hinge. It has to rotate to open the top for loading.Probably they used that option at the shop.

Sweet! Love to hear this. My parents have a house in NH and the small cast iron Jotul stove there is my first exposure to burning wood. I remember when my parents bought that house (I was 12 or so) and my dad telling me, "That's a Jotul, it's one of the best wood stove companies in the world." Glad to know it is still true! :)

The only fault i can find with them is they can't spell.Jotul =Yodel. :cheese:

Good to hear Pete. Dennis said the same thing about woodstock. Nice to know that there is good customer service out there still.... After all, I got me one of those yotuls too, and I love it!

Good to hear that.

Sounds like they value their customers.

That is good to hear. I have a jotul 450 insert that I am happy with and when we make some changes to our house in a few years I want to get a woodstove to do the primary heating and a jotul 500 is first on my list.

This is customer support! Jotuls are fairly expensive units and they also have a good reputation. There would be many more satisfied people out there if they simply got thjeir problems addressed promptly without having to jump through hoops. Looks like you fould a very good dealer. Congtats!
Tim

And Jotul used to go heavy on the peeled shrimp back in the good ole days at the trade show. Big as your fist I tell ya!

I'm of similar mind.

I've had a Jotul 550 for four seasons with zero issues - haven't had to contact the dealer (or Jotul) for any reason whatsoever. I'm more than willing to pay a premium for a quality stove upfront and avoid having to deal with the snakeoil salesman you typically find in stove shops for after-sale service.

We're also working with an architect on a renovation that includes a second chimney and at least one additional stove, which will most likely be a Jotul.

Yeah, with all this talk about customer service it makes me glad that I bought one that doesn't need it.

So far i can say this is the best built stove I have ever owned and it performs like a champ! I will most
likely stick with jotul if I need another stove someday it is a real beauty in every way. Our old stove
was a tank and built well but lacked cusromer support! My experience has been any thing eventually
needs work which is why we are glad we chose a good dealer as well.

Jags do you have pics of that log splitter? I would love to see it!

Pete

I had a similar issue with the bolts coming loose on my Rangeley. The bolts that hold the andirons and the side convection panels have need tightening on my stove as well.

I'm sorry . . . but since you now have a Jotul (Yo-tul) you now must refer to Jags as "Yags" and myself as "Firefighter-Yake."

5? You are my hero! It's almost worth becoming a dealer just for that. Send Shannon my way!

I'm glad you had a good experience with Jotul customer support. I have left three messages with them over the last month (my "dealer" gave me their number and told me to call them) and they have yet to call me back. Maybe you can contact some of your new pals over there and ask them to give me a call.
