Do I have to go to Tarm to get the silicon sheathed top door gasket or can I buy it elsewhere?

Hi Chuck, I needed an unrelated part last year and Chris supplied me with a rope gasket. I think this was suppose to replace my lower silicone gasket as an update / modification. Point being, you may be best served by calling Tarm and finding out what's up with replacement door seals.
I'm not 100% sure of the location of the rope gasket because both of mine have remained intact..... but I think it was suppose to go on bottom because of the excessive heat.

Rob

As I understand it, the rope gasket goes in the bottom and the silicon gasket on top.

I think you would be best served by Tarm. If something happened after you made a purchase from "someone else" I think you would not have a leg to stand on. My third winter with my Solo plus 40 and it couldn't be easier, I'm loving it. Have you or anyone else had any significant issues with their Tarm? I have no issues to speak of other then small stuff like a bit of smoke because I didn't seal the smoke pipe. Seems like a pain to seal it and then have to take it apart each season to clean it. My 2 cents. Sweetheat

I just got a price on the door gasket from Tarm. $45.00
That doesn't even include shipping.
Wow!

Tarm Sales Guy, why do the tarm door rope gaskets cost more than $1.00 an inch?

Chuck172, the rope gasket itself is not too bad, but it is coated with Organic Danish Goo that can only be harvested on the vernal equinox. Gooood Stuff. :) Plain rope gasket will work, but the silicone sheathed will work better (load door). Chris

While we got you on the subject of expensive Danish goo, Chris. Where are your boilers made now-a-days.
