My buddys brother has a pickup loaded with cut and split oak. He has plywood sides extended a couple foot higher than the box so he gets more wood on . Says its loaded to the top of the sides. Any idea how much I should pay for this ? I know its hard to guess but he says about two face cords and he wants 120 bucks . I havent seen it yet but just trying to figure if its worth it.

6 foot bed or 8?
Either way $120 seems reasonable

Sounds like his estimate might be about right. A tossed-in load in a pickup bed is about 1/3 cord. Weather it's worth it depends what a cord goes for in your location, and if it's all Oak that's better than some lesser-BTU woods that might be in an average cord.

Just saw the load, 8 ft bed but it was only about level with the box , split and stacked. Is this 2 face cords ? A face cord of oak here goes for 90 bucks.

Here's pictures of 1/2 cord stacked in a full size truck with 8' bed for reference.

Here in Michigan I pay a " buddy" $45 bucks for a 6ft pick up bed loaded with split red oak. Others on CL charge anywheres from $50 to $70 for a cord of oak delivered. If he's your friend a discount is in order.

That doesn't sound like a "blue light special". Also if it is oak how long has it been split and drying ? Oak needs 2 years to be ready to burn.

I dont have a stove yet , just getting supplys for when I do. I am not sure his load would equal 2 face cords . A face is 4' high by 8' long right "? Im guessing his splits were 16"

Offer him 90 bucks cash money, and tell him you'll even unload it. ;-P

I doubt you're very close to 2/3 of a cord, even split and well stacked in the bed. Maybe half a cord. What does half a cord of split wood go for in your area? Around here, a cord of split oak will go for about $125. With millions and millions of dead trees in Texas, due to our long and extreme drought, firewood will probably be really cheap for the next few years.

I'd off $75 at most and unload it myself. For $120 he should unload and stack it!

I am not far from you in northern IL. You can find a better deal than that around here.

Thats about 2' x 4' x 8' so about 1/2 cord, dont know prices in your area but around here Id pay $75.
