Caleffi has published this technical journal to help installers with design and piping. We show 8 different piping options with pressurized and un-pressurized systems, including wiring schematics. Also included are precautions for un-pressurized OWF piping.

These are conceptual drawings and many variations are possible. These are built on sound hydronic concepts and in many cases actual installed systems.

Caleffi asks that you read and agree to the terms of use if you reproduce this material. We like to get feed back for future issues, thanks.

Hot Rod, this looks to be an incredibly useful, beautiful document!

Perfect timing. There's plenty there to digest for all of us on this list.

This is great. I suggest that this becomes one of the next "stickys" at the top of the forum....

Seconded.

Great article and beautifully done schematics HR. What program do you use to draw them?

Thanks all, I hope this is useful info for beginners and seasoned installers. Thanks to Jim for a great set of eyes on the first edit.

John Siegenthaler does a lot of the "heavy lifting" for Idronics. My shop ends up being the test bed for some of the off the wall ideas.

I believe he uses PowerCADD for the schematics and wiring diagrams.

I had been waiting for this ever since Caleffi announced it coming out at the end of last year. Thank you. I also second Clarkbug's "sticky" recommendation. Would love to see an addendum, or something similar, for external solid fuel boiler installations with storage in out buildings, whether heated or not. Questions like...Should I mix prior to going through the underground? Should I install a buffer tank in each building I am planning to heat? Which is more effective? How do I deal with heating DHW effectively? Just to name a few. This would also be a huge benefit to not only me but several others with similar installations, or planning similar installations. Just a thought...thanks again "Hot Rod" and everyone else involved in this excellent addition. Great stuff.
