When is the best time to purchase pellets? When are the best deals?

Any idea what the feed rate is on Summers Heat 55-SHP22 model? How long should a bag of pellets last on a heat setting of 3?

Got 4 bags of Stove Chow at HD today. 2 hours in they are burning great with good heat output.
Price is $210 per ton, is a good price or just average?

i'd say that's average. but still in the good range.
i don't have access to the big box stores in my area. but a lot of folks work the discounts you can get at lowes.
it's a moving cupon that you can score pretty easily from what i read.
and there seem to be other ways to get discounts at the big box stores.
you should be able to find out all the tricks here from someone(s)
happy hunting. :)

start with that price and get 10 to 20% off and you are doing great.
some folks have a well deserved veterans discount too.
i think some are able to end up w/ 30% off at lowes.

I am in Northern Delaware.

I prefer Hamer's Hot Ones over all other pellets.

For reference: a ton of Hamer's in "our area" is currently $285

I've always hated the pellets places like Lowes and HD sell. They burn fast and dirty with less heat compared to Hamer's. (IMHO)

So if you're happy with the "box store" pellets, and can get them for $210 a ton, you're getting a great bargain.

As for best time to buy...probably any time from now until August.

Worst time: September through January.
