I've heard some good things about the Kuuma Vaporfire furnace. If its as creosote free as they advertise it would be well worth some extra money, although no price is listed on the website, Randy

The Kuuma VaporFire 100 is $4,350 and VaporFire 200 is $3,900. They both burn 99% "Smokeless", which eliminates the nasty creosote so much that we don't even own a chimney brush. Our Independent test results speak for themselves:

.45 Gr/Hr. Emmission
99.4% Combustion Efficiency
99% Smokeless Burns
84% Overall Efficiency

If your looking at a new system why not check out the Effect Lambda 35kw or 60kw. I mean it's a serious investment, a new system that is, and when considering the easy of use especially down the road as you get older, efficiency, looks and appeal, warranty, reputation, quality of the unit, all of the above.... it's certainly the system to contend with.. and current pricing in the U.S. makes it unbelievablely reasonable compared to others that are not so user friendly and require more attention. FWIW might want to just have a look see.

What's your current furnace rated at now? 1800 sq ft doesn't seem like alot of square footage when it comes to heating. Have you considered investing in airsealing and insulation and keeping your current furnace? Eventually then look into a better unit after you have the house under control.
