Anyone have suggestion on how I can put to rest my MT. Vernon AE?

Feeling the Heat

One of the coldest nights we have had in while and ask me what I am heating with? Nope sorry not my Mt Vernon AE....yes oil!!! I am so happy.
Got up this morning and what error did I have once again.....BAD TC. Between the TC and the igniter going at least once a year....I am ready to
take it out back and blowing the thing up..... I know, I know it's my fault I should have spare parts on hand.......how about they make a stove
that I do not have to repair every other thing. Ok thanks for listening......happy burning.

Thanks for offers.....but if I am done with it....I am going to get all the pleasure of blowing the sucker up!!!

Im not a fan. So I would help you.

Would be worth the drive if I could possibly video it also??? ;-P

Sorry your having problems (honestly). I really hope if you get rid of it, that it gets a good home.

You could gut it and put a flat screen in it with a fire video playing.

Do you have the new-style burnpot?

Also, there is a new lower-wattage ignitor that is supposedly longer lasting. As long as you only burn pellets, you're good to go.

I like that....it would take care of two things....put me out of my misery and get a flat screen.........Perfect.....(although I still like the idea of seeing it blow up).

No I have not upgraded the fire pot or igniter yet......next step. Do you know if they are covering those upgrades under warranty or not? I have had the stove since 2008.
If not do you know the cost?

Thank you SS.

I was just having the same issue with mine. I'm not sure if it was Quad's fault or mine. I replaced the burnpot gasket and the autoclean springs last fault. Anyways, it would appear that the autoclean mechanism was rubbing on the TC wire and wore through. It's possible that I did not get it correctly into the holder, but ironically, the replacement TC has extra protection on it to prevent this.

Does Harman take trade ins????

It wouldn't be Harman taking in the trade. It would be the stove shop/retailer your dealing with. AFAIK most do except trades. But you will loose your shirt. better of selling it on the street to get the most from it.

Let see ,mix fertilizer with diesel fuel for cheap send off. The Feds came up with that one.

I like it, think I would haul to an open field first......I mentioned wanting a Harmon today to my dealer and they said they have their problems too....is there a stove out there does not have some issues....

If you keep having thermocouple issues, you may have routed the thermocouple wires wrong. If you do, they will get pushed around by the auto clean and chafe the wires. When you replace the T/C again make sure to read how to route them properly.

The new fire pot, thermocouple and new lower wattage igniters are listed on Ebay.

It is far worse than that, every heating system has problems.

Someone in another thread said if you ain't smart enuff to spell it right you ain't smart enuff to run it right. But, seriously, I'm not far away, I'll take it away and buy ya some fireworks as soon as a store opens up.

Oh nice...picking on my spelling when the stove is out....that is hitting a guy when he is down.......

epic idea :)

I come before thee to confess my sins of unjustly accusing my stove of errors and wanting to do undo harm to it. I am ready to accept my full punishment and ask to be absolved of my sins. It turns out the stove does not like it when one lets the pellets run out and sawdust is built up on the auger and it’s action to tell you that you are an idiot is to give you false error messages and then laugh when you put up stupid posts on Hearth.com. Well, her and I have had a long talk and come to the understanding that me being stupid is a something I cannot change (sorry Hoss means more spelling errors we can not all be as smart as you) but she has agreed to except me for who I am. Now will the rest of you??

I know how you feel. I've had mine since 2009 and I have a love hate relationship with it. At the moment I love it, I have the old style burn pot and I'm still on the original ignitor.

you mean after a week you finally opened up the hopper and discovered it was out of pellets?

I think he means he discovered the auger was plugged with fines????

Admitting to fault is the first step.

I can see forgiveness is hard to come by.........just kidding I deserve whatever I get.........just think about the comments my dealer is making about me right about now.....

True....it would have...and part of me is a little disappointed because I think that would have been fun.....

True Smokey....the second step is the hardest.....not being stupid....
