St Croix Versa grate..?

I just disconnect mine tonight. It's gotten much louder in the past couple of days. It's the gearbox itself, probably needs to come apart and get greased inside. For now, I'm going to run it without the motor running, and see what happens. I suspect the VersaGrate is more for burning corn.

Corn / multi fuel stoves do not have the versagrate system.

The St. Croix Hastings can do 50% corn to 50% pellets & definitely has a versa grate system.

My Afton Bay is a multi fuel stove. will burn corn, pellets and cherry pits. has the versa grate.

The manual shows where to lube it. Says once a year.
 
There have been threads in the past discussing peeps disconnecting the versa grate.

As far as I remember, some were doing it successfully.
 
I tried disconnecting it, got some large clinkers, but it can be done. I have it connected again, it does keep the pot bottom cleaner.
