burning partical board?

I wouldn't put it in a stove that has a catalytic convertor. I toss that type of "wood" in the burn barell. Now if you cut it up into small pieces, save 3-4" squares, one or two at a time wouldn't really hurt anything.

Save your peace of mind and haul that up to the street on garbage day. If you need kindling, just check the free section of craigslist. I always see contractors on there getting rid of extra building materials which will work great for that purpose.
I wouldn't burn that, period. Do you have a local free-list or craiglist where you could give it away?

Industrial boilers with the proper emission controls can burn it, but anything like a home boiler is going to be polluting the neighborhood and plugging a catalyst. Generally the binder is urea formaldehyde based. Are the gases from a burn barrel going to knock you dead, no but its another toxin being dumped in the atmosphere. Best to landfill it.
When I burn crap like that in the barrel I have a good hot fire going.
OR can do like my neighbor and make smoldering "campfires" that includes trash, damp grass, plants, etc. They had one yesterday and it frigging smoked out my garage somehow. I didn't say a thing, figured I'm sure there's stuff I do that pisses them off, so in my eyes we are equal.
