Feeling the Heat
This is my 1st chance to try Green Team. Picked up 2 bags at a flooring company. Only problem is seeing you guys have been able to pick them up for @ 200.00 and they are 240.00 or 5 bucks a bag. They usually have a pellet called Pell Heat???? Heard of that before anyone? Letting the Ligs run thru the system, then later today putting in the GT's.

Jim

I'm liking the Green Teams I picked up at Lowes last week. Price wasn't that great but I was only picking up 15 bags to try. Really liking the heat from them and how they burn in the stove.

I bought my GT stash in March 2011.
$209 was what I paid then. Lots of
ash in this batch but the redeeming
quality is they throw a lot of heat so
I deal with the extra mess.

I tried my two bags of Green Team I picked up from Lowes yesterday. To my surprise, this pellet burned hot and very little ash in my stove! Actually burned better then the Spruce Pointes that I love with just as much heat, much less ash and zero clinkers. I was really surprised. It burned almost as good as my favorite pellet which are Barefoots. If anyone run across good pricing for the Green Teams in MA, please post on the forum. I would like to grab a couple of tons but Lowe's prices have become ridiculous at $274/ton and that's if they have it in stock. Thanks.

I like the Greene Team pellets. My quad dealer has been selling them for about 5 years now, and overall I think they're just as good - maybe a little better than Hamers Hot Ones. Both of them make too much ash for my liking though. Dang I wish I could get softwood pellets!

Nobody likes excessive ash, but remember....it's ALL about the heat.

Did you get the Greene Gold from R&S?

Yes, the Green Gold. Have you tried it? I burned for about 4 hours yesterday (5-9:30) then let it go out until about 6 am this morning stove went back on. Since it does not get as cold at night (in the 30's) I let it go out. I only burn overnight when it is in the 20's. When it hits the 30's the 2000 sq ft bi level can actually get to warm and I have to close off the bedroom upstairs.

Thoughts so far, great heat! Hard to say on the ash.......I only cleaned the burnpot since it was still hot did not want to vacuum the ash out from the bottom.
I would buy again and probably will get a ton. Wish they would go lower then 240 though.

Jim

Been burning GT's since October, similar results as everyone else is saying - good heat and above what you'd want ash.

Picked up mine in August at Lowes, 194.00 less the 10% coupon = $175'ish a ton :)

Even with the extra ash, I can live with it for that price. I just hope a similar deal with be around during the off season.

Same here $197/ton regular price for me so I ended up paying $177.50/ton. Picked up 2 tons in September.

Yes, I grabbed two bags last week....good heat but a little more ash than I thought it would have....I would easy buy more IF they were a bit cheaper....I think I'm going to stock up with bags of Turman at the Cozy Barn...they still are probably the hottest and cleanest I've burned....and they are/were $4.80 a bag the other week...not sure what the ton pricing was....

Good to know on Cozy Barn. I think I will have to try the Turmans. I was hoping to get 3 tons as spring is approaching. Probably different products depending on the price. Might try to get their next week sometime. Have you tried the new Wood Heat in Palmer?
I went by it today on my way back to the Nazareth Giant....was in the wife's Fusion....so did not stop.

No, I didn't even know they opened a shop there. I'm going to swing by and check it out. What pellets are they carrying? I stopped by Cozy the other week to pick up some GAP's to try but they were out of them so I picked up a couple bags of Keystone pellets that are made by Allegheny. Good heat but lots of ash. Still wanna try GAP's.....I might run up tomorrow if they got them back in stock.

Steve

Did you stop by the new shop? I believe they have GAP's. It seems like most places nearby want the 240 price. The local Ace has the Lignetics for 240 and will not budge even with a coupon from Ace! Has to be regularly priced items????? You kidding me. I think I want to try the Turmans you guys have mentioned.
I am hoping these prices will come down. I would think places would have excess because of the warm winter. Also the nice thing about R & S is they keep the pellets in a warm warehouse and Ace keeps theirs in an enclosed area also......will have to do some calling around and keep checking on prices.

Maybe we should have a sticky with prices for specific areas. I know their is a sticky about prices in general. Let me know how you make out with price and
where.....I will do the same.

Jim

No...didn't get by yesterday, I'm hoping to stop by today and check them out. I'm going to head up to Cozy for 12:00 but I still need to call and see if they have GAP's....I'll still pick up some Turman though........No problem, will do with the pricing.... I'll inbox you with what I find.

Steve

Who makes GT pellets? I thought NEWP made them with a different name on the bag.

I burned 2 tons of Hamers Hot One's this year. Just ran out of them last week. Went to Lowes and picked up 10 bags of Greene Teams. To my amazement they burn much hotter than the Hamers. A little more ash but not enough to make me not buy them next year. Going Greene next year. Much cheaper than the Hamers.

I still have some I bought in the fall. It's been mostly too warm to burn them. Pellet of the year for me (GTs that is). I don't get much ash at all from the ones I have.

Have 60 plus bags left. Burn very hot. Ash has been minimal for me. On these 45 degree days, i have to shut the stove down to keep the temps under 72. With AWF pellets, i can run all day on 1 and maintain 68 to 70.without shutting down.
