I am getting my tax stuff together and trying to figure out if the cost of my vent pipe would be included in the credit. anyone know?

I looked around and haven't come up with anything. It just says not to include installation. Is that just labor?

Never mind.. I found it. Only the purchase price.

Q: What about the hearth, stovepipe, chimney parts & labor I'll need to complete the installation? 10%?
A: Nope, in the 2011 version, the 10% credit applies to the price of the stove only.

It makes me happy I bought mine when I did and got the $1500 credit including installation! For ONCE things fell my way! Very rare.

by us buying used we still got a tax credit this year.

If we would have bought new last year we would have spent $2500 more than we did this year with figuring in a $1500 tax credit.

Then you are definitely the big winner! The used stoves that show up down here in Ga on Craigslist are so overpriced that it's crazy.

We got our stove, heath pad, all venting, cleaning tools, thermostat, fancy pellet bucket and just over 2 tons of pellets for $2000. installed ourselves.

The same model stove with all that minus the pellets, cleaning tools and bucket but including installation was about $4000 at a dealer.

Sometimes ya gotta let someone else pay the depreciation. ;-)

Didn't matter what I spent because according to my preparer all I was getting from uncle Sam was $150.... Last year 2010 return, would have gotten me much more.

I can claim $105 for this year. I had a $395 credit in 2006 for windows. Oh well, a hundred bucks is better than nothing.

I got $300 for my PF100 pellet furnace. Looks like the max it will buy for cost is $2,000 regardless whether it was mor or not.
