a guy gave me a poulan that is about 25 years old. it looks like new-almost no use. good compression. what should i do to get this rig runnin?

What model is it? In my experience the larger ones are much easier to start & work on.Much more durable build quality too.

Check the carb, fuel lines might need replaced, new spark plug/air or fuel filter.Remove the muffler to check the piston & cylinder for any scoring.

not sure of the model no. right now-it's up at the farm. it's a larger size. will definitely start with your recommendations! thanks. art

Before you do anything to it, why don't you try pouring in some fresh mix and starting it per the usual procedure. You might get lucky!
