Yeah, that's the familiar vase shape. I'm not all that familiar with Elm bark except Red. It doesn't quite look like Locust (Black) to me.Pat53 said:I'd say yes, looks like elm to me. The crown on many elms looks like a snow-cone to me.

Take a pocket knife, cut out a small cross-section of the bark (along a ridge) - if you see alternating white and dark stripes (vanilla and chocolate), then you have American elm - nothing else has this character.
