Cut three truck loads of this this a.m. This was the smaller rounds. Had some a good 24" across. Nice stuff and easy pickings. Theres at least 10 more truck loads of deadfall .

Yeah, my buddy and his dad own like 300 acres of crop land with some swampy areas and tree lines. He finally gave me permission to cut the dead and down. Tons of cherry' oak and ash . Im set for a long time.

Nice score. How does cherry burn in comparison to the ash? I have access to a bunch of both and trying to decide which I should focus my efforts on. I will say I like how nich the saw eats up the cherry - much easier to cut than the ash, although that may just be due to the ash being dead standing and all the cherry is rather green blow downs.

On BTU charts, green ash burns about the same as cherry. Whereas white ash burns hotter. I wouldn't turn either one down.
With ash, you don't have the aroma like cherry when it is burning. Takes me twice as long to split cherry because I always
Smell each piece I split! Lol!

Nice score !!

Cherry is an awesome firewood, seasons rather quickly, and gives off excellent BTU's !

Great score.Cherry is wonderful. Burned some small dead this morning just getting things going.

Why did it take him so long to let you cut dead trees if they did not want them?

Nice. I have a bunch in the stacks, but I've only burned a little bit. You'll have a pleasant aroma every time it rains.
I cut some last summer that had been laying in logs since winter. I finally got to splitting some a few weeks ago, and my HF moisture meter was showing 18-20%. The trees were quite healthy when cut. It will be perfect this fall if I need it.

Usually when you get that message you are trying to post too soon. Wait a minute or half a minute and it should post then.

Cherry is good wood to burn. We don't have a lot but usually cut some most years. I have 3 that we cut this year but smaller than yours.

Cherry one of my favorites, burn real hot lots of heat. I have a chimenea that I put cherry chunks in and cook steaks over the cherry coals, mind boggling taste try it.

Here's a picture of a couple cherry I took down in my back yard last month. One measured over 4' across at the base.

You're a lucky man, didn't know Akron had cherry trees that big,but I know they've got some monstrous oaks been offered a few but way too big to handle without machinery, along Merrimam Road my brother in laws company cuts quite a few. Beautiful cherry you got there.

Thanks...
I live about 1/2 mile from Merriman Road.
Down in the "Merriman Valley".

I've been cutting a few cherry trees myself this winter. I always make sure that I keep a few cords of cherry well sheltered,in order to maintain the red color. There's nothing prettier than a stack of well seasoned red cherry on the hearth.
Big V...that's a beauty of a tree there.

I split the load today. Got a good pile on my 5' x 14 ' trailer ready for stacking. Didnt smell much like Cherrys though.
