I see a lot of debate on what a good 1 -2 punch is for firewood saws if one were to have only 2 saws....or for that matter just one saw! Anyway, does a 346XP (18") and a 365 (20" or +) a good combo. Anybody running them? I have a particular 350 which is 6 yrs old and is staring to give me issues. Might set myself up to have a combination like I mentioned. Thoughts?

If I had to pick a favorite combo it would be the Dolmar5105 and 7900. They will cost you much less and no way you'll be disappointed. The 5105 wear a 18" bar proudly and the 7900 can do a 24" or 28" with no problem. Both can run same 3/8 full comp chain.
I appreciate the advice for sure, but I'm stickin with Husqyvarna. I probably should have mentioned that in the 1st post.

I have a 346xp with a 16" bar and a 359 with a 20. I like it as a 2 saw plan, but running a 346 and a 372xp would probably be pretty much ideal since you get the lightweight limbing saw and the heavy duty 70cc sat for felling, bucking and pretty much anything.
And the 346 is more than enough saw to cut the 372 out when you misread a cut.

The local Husqvarna dealer near me was running a special for the month of Feb where you buy a saw and get 50% off the second saw. I would have gone with a 372 and the 346 for sure, even though I don't have a lot of need for a 372 right now, it would have been a good deal.

I run a 346XP NE (18") and a 372XPW. For someone like me who is mostly just a firewood cutter, very happy running that combo. Can't say on the 365, havent seen one run. The 346 will get an impressive amount of work done and handles great. You could buy a 346 now and get a bigger saw later- thats what I did.

The 6401 has the most potential, as soon as it gets the BB kit.

I'm sold on the top handle and a 70cc. A strong top handle like the 200T or muffler modded 192 or the equivalent XP Husky's will pull a 12" bar buried with authority at less than 10 lbs.. Anything bigger than that and I'm running a 70cc (hypothetically of course, because I have too many saws, so I tend to switch it up based on mood lol).

I have the 346/16" bar 372/24" bar combo and it works well for me. It would be like a 261 441 combo in the Stihl world which would be good also.
That 350 I mentioned in the 1st post has been good to me, but I think I've pushed it too much over the past few yrs. I just had the oil pump replaced, but it still spews some major bar oil when I cut. I hit it with compressed air and we'll see how it goes today. I'm thinking about the 346XP......and then ultimately getting a bigger saw (365, 372) and put my 350 towards it. My dealer will take it as trade. I just really wonder how long it will last. It makes a great case for a pro saw though. I think I'll see a world of difference in the long haul.

I like a 70cc saw and something very light for limbs. So if I where running huskys it would be the 372 and there top handle saw.
350 (18") and 372XP (24") myself. Very happy. Tend to run the 350 until the bigger stuff, just like you'd think....works well.

I run a 372XP, 24" bar for mid to big stuff and use a 345E w/18" bar that I got off of Ebay new for nearly a song. I love the 372 for bucking, felling or anything over about 5" through. The 345E is light and does well for limbing, climbing around on banks, trimming small stuff or to get the big saw unstuck. I did have to replace the oil pump gear in the 345E this past year.
It's a good combo but I'm sure the 346XP is a better saw then the 345E. I do like having a big saw and a small one. I use to just be a one saw guy with an 034 Stihl which was ok but like having a pair. I really like my 372XP. It's not to heavy and really has the power to do the business year after year.
I guess I'll keep going with what I've got for now since I just picked up a used 37 ton NorthStar to blow some money on. :lol:
