I don't think the price of the MWP could drop that much if any. But if it were Barefoots for $300/ton and they dropped to $250/ton. I'd be a little sick to my stomach!

About the only super premium pellets we see up here are Okies and Cubex, some Spruce Pointe and now La Crete, and I'm not aure the last 2 qualify as super premium. I don't see the price of any of them coming down much if at all.

St_Earl, do you see any Northeast Pellets up your way? They were pretty good before the fire. They are selling them in Augusta, but I won't pay the price.

i don't really see any pellets up here except the three bags of penningtons at the corner store for $7.99 a bag. :0

nicatou stove shop sold me a ton of mwp in october. but they were higher priced than sib.
but sib couldn't get to me/ i was on waiting list when my stove was first installed.

i bought two bags energex from nicatou for the day my stove was installed.
sib is definitely my best source. even if i had a truck it would still be.

now if the deal to bring a tsc into the empty building by the iga here goes through, i may have choices.
and if their prices are still higher than sib, i will tell them exactly why i won't be buying from them.

J- What do you think the price of Le Crete will do this spring? SIB has them for $289 per ton delivered. SMRF is $309 plus delivery.
I am not sure how SIB does it but I can not imagine SIB reducing his price much on these when SMRF is $309, why would he? And as you said his MWP price is already good, so I am not sure waiting will matter much with these two pellets.. Your thoughts Wise Old (meant only in terms of pellet experience) Owl....

FYI, the SMRF website posted the other day that they would be posting March/Spring specials soon but I don't see that message now. I'd give them a call.

As for SIB, if he was down here in Mass, he'd be one very busy guy.....

I think he's pretty busy as it is. When I order I usally have to wait a few days to a week before he can get them to me.

I found it on SMRF website: "Watch for early buy specials beginning in March on selected products." On home page under Fuel oil prices.
I am going there today to pick up some Le Crete to try so I will see see what I can find out from him.

Great...please report back!!

I need to burn more to make room before I can put an order in. Bought 23 odd bags, still have 1 ton 31 bags left out of 3 ton pallets.
Need to order 3 ton to get delivery cost down. What is the trick to burn more pellets, they burn so slow. Hope to get rid of the 31 bags left
on my second ton, too warm today, stove just won't run much.

By a second stove
Burn them in the firepit outside
Open the winders and let it rip
Or you could just toss the sofa outside and sit on the pellets during the summer? Toss the matteress and box spring-Sleep on pellets and it might fix the achin back?

Seriously, No way to stuff more in somewhere? I 5S'd my basement so I can get a season and a half down there. If I can get my wife to toss her junk? I might get 2 full seasons.

I can double up 1 ton, not wanting to do 2 ton though. I can still get car in doubled up.

TSC in Augusta now selling Infernos. They had MWP. They have No idea that all pellets are not alike. From what I understand, they also have no say about what they get. (chickens are in Thursday)

I'm going to visit one of them someday. Perhaps shortly just to see the chicks. Not likely to buy any there though, not close enough to the correct time for me.

I've been buying Northeast Pellets 10 bags at a time at Nicautou ?? during the last couple of weeks in Medway....nice clean pellets..low ash but the heat is somewhat low in my stove...I would compare them to MWP..the Geneva hardwood pellets are the best heat for me...Northeast are $220.00 a ton...you carry out..these are made in Ashland Maine..

Went to SMRF today and picked up 5 bags of Le Crete and 2 bags of PWI to try out.
Great guys, very helpful. Watch for their news letter next week or check their website next week.

Wanted to try some la crete, SIB is 200 miles round trip, Windham even further.

yeah, but Rocky's charges delivery fees even for in-town Augusta. I got my delivery of Lacrete's from SIBs with no delivery charge.

So it saved me about $20 - so $0.40 a bag.

That's 180 miles round trip.

so, slls-
i take it you only want to try a few bags of those.

sib will deliver by the ton a great distance.
135 miles to my house from sib.

I want to try them first. Got 3 bags from Dysart's of LG, no good for me.
Need to try, before I buy tons. Like you St_Earl I live in the other Maine.

TSC in Windham is open now. Grand opening is next Saturday (3/17?). They only have Green Supreme though. I spoke with someone there and they said that was the only kind they had.

Burned two bags of the PWI from SMRFs, I like them, very low ash, I do not have a way to measure heat output but I the heat seems very good, they burned very clean. I used the Cubex this year and would not hesitate using the PWI instead. Keep an eye out next week for SMRF's newsletter.

There is a quasi early buy statement on the SMRF site today. It basically says they aren't going to be discounting much due to fuel costs, etc. It does say that they will announce some sort of special on the above mentioned PWI pellet next week.

I (my stove) like the PWI pellets. Have burned Vermont's, Turmans and PWI for good stuff. PWI has no real noticeable difference in heat output. Little more ash but not a problem. Only real difference is the price - $20.00 per ton lower.
