For the first time since November both stoves have gone cold. The last time the snap disk shut the fan on the upstairs insert was the weekend before Thanksgiving. Since then it burned 24/7 and always had enough hot coals to keep the fan running. Today the high is going to be near 60° so I did not do my morning load.

The stove downstairs was only lit 4 times this season for a total of about 12 days. This is a record low for us, it usually burns about half the season.

Also shut the two fans that move air around the house.

Quiet.

Based on the forecast it will probably be evening fires to keep the chill out from now on...

Only used about 2.5 cords of wood this year (mostly red oak), much less than last year.

We had a cold spell over the weekend but now it is in the 60's outside.

Spring is just around the corner.

Same here, kapt ...used a lot less wood, not just because of the goofy winter but also because there was a glitch in my draft that I fixed, that alone saved me a TON of wood. Probably went through around 4 cord or so this season so far, don't expect to need too much more either. Basement is stocked with several weeks worth of wood and they are calling for really mild temps in the long term forecast, so I guess we may be back to the evening lite-ups again. Looks like the spring shoulder season is almost upon us......

My house is always quiet. The natural air flow in the house evens everything out with the assist of a quiet ceiling fan.

This has been the mildest winter since I owned the stove. Lots of wood left over for what I allocated towards this year.
I'm probably going to have to move wood from the garage back to the woodpile unless we get a couple of more cold
snaps. I'm keeping the house extra warm just to try to avoid that chore.

The only thing that I hear cycling in my house at night is the refrigerator in the kitchen. I am very happy to have a silent freestanding stove with no blower. My old Lopi freedom bay insert had a noisy blower and I don't miss that racket a bit.

It was 24 degrees this morning, new snow on the ground yesterday morning. The sun is out, the birds are chirping, frogs are croaking at night, we are so close to spring I can taste it.

Since Vermont Castings swapped out the fan assembly the insert is very quiet at half speed where I normally use it. It is quieter than a standard table fan. The stove downstairs is hand fired radiant, no fan, no noise. If anything was running in the house like the refrigerator you could not hear the the insert at all. There was just this background noise of the air moving from the insert, the floor register fan, and a small table fan that was suddenly gone. It took a while to realize what was different...

I could burn without the fans but they keep the heat much more even throughout the house.

We should all have some nice seasoned wood left over for next year, I still have a cord and a half, I bet I only use 1/2 cord the rest of the way.

All i know lunch time I went home and got the motorcycle and drove it back to work. No fires tonight. I too will have an extra cord left over this year.

Next week i am switching over the snow tires..On the car; i also have another season of wood for next year

One good thing i have been working hard to get ahead on my wood supply during this warm weather. I am starting to make progress going to be a good next 2 winters for for me.

Had a fire last night and this morning. Then it went up to seventy and only going down to 50 tonight. Looks no fire until Friday.

The last time we put wood in the stove was 2 nights ago. I do think we'll start a small fire tonight though as it is just a tiny bit cool. Warm outside but very windy and tomorrow expecting falling temperatures. However, next week looks great. Maybe we'll make up this spring for the last few when the heating season just kept going and going.

One of the many bad things about running a previous pellet stove (I'm so sorry) was the racket of constant blower noise - don't miss that in the least! Cheers!

No fire here tonight and no blower or dehumidifiers running. Started a fire last night at 10 and put just a little on this morning. House is sitting at 76. I have between 9 and 10 cords left cut and split not including the cord of slab or the cord on the patio by the house. Just can't wait till we turn the clocks as I have about a lot of splitting to do......guessing 8 cords to split.

Cleaned the pool filter and turned the auto sprinklers back on this weekend. :)

Still gonna burn a few splits in the am and pm just to keep the edge off.
Plus I just love watching the thing burn.

Well, I lied. When the sun went down I burned a quick hot one to keep the mass of the stove and the fireplace holding the joint for the night.

Burned down now but it will do the job.
