Minister of Fire
This guy came home, we will say last night, and saw that the flame in the Mt Vernon was resembled the flame of a match given out at a wedding approx 20 years ago, you know the kind. It took the entire pack to light a single cigarette. Well this guy investigated the problem and saw that the ash in the burn pot was about level with the inside firebox. This guy knowing a little about stoves tried to remember if the ash pan had been cleaned last. He could not do it but guessed it was over a month ago. Hmmmmm, what to do?

Well this guy went about his business and drank a couple beers and ate dinner, in that order. This guy looked at the stove a short while later and that self cleaning burn pot was not working right cause it was still full. So this guy emptied the ash pan about three feet from the front door so the dogs could walk through the ash prior to coming into the house. This guy replaced the ash pan and guess what. The flame looked as good as new. Back to the beer.

The moral of this little story is clean your ash pan more than once a month. I am still suing that bleeping dealer.

Well he does have to fund his brew stash, the good stuff isn't cheap if he buys it in the bottles.

Emptying the ash pan is over rated. ;-P
Especially for those of us who don't have ash pans!

Do not put an ugly stove in a pretty house.

Eric

I vac out the ash pan each time I clean the stove, I haven't ever actually taken it out to empty it.

I'm still stuck on the dogs tracking all of that ash around the house.....

Empty the ash pan once a month? I have gone 3 and still had room for more. Normally empty once a ton. And thats with middle of the road stuff. Longer with better stuff!

My M55 FPI requires me to clean its ash at least once a week, no matter what it has been eating. Very shallow ash pan in the insert.

I have to empty the ash pan on my Harman XXV once a week.

Once apon a time, There was this lazy beer drinkin chap who always forgot to clean his stove and forgot to fill its hopper. His wife stepped in to rectify the problem. She decided to wack the lazy stove operator every time there was an issue. She acquired a rather large skillet made of cast iron. After a few head jarring blows. Problem solved=operator well trained.

Stove operator doesn't have issues keeping the stove going any longer. Drinks far less beer and says yes dear a lot!!! Shall I send your wife, my wife contact info? :cheese:

I'm pretty sure my wife acquired this training technique from SmokeyTheBears wife!

Oh and for the record. I bought a helmet thinkin it would protect my skull. Problem is, I always forgot to wear the stupid thing!
