Since I slid down the driveway sideways this morning (550 feet of ice) do they make a sander for the Rhino or UTV'S?

I've never seen one specific for a Rhino, but a lot of folks run them on ATV around here for plowing and salting large walks. I would imagine one of those would work for you...

+1. I'm sure you could get one of those ATV spreaders and either find a factory-mount or fab one yourself, Zap.......be careful, those Rhino's weren't meant to go sideways!! :ahhh: :shut:

Or get a pull behind spreader and put some screws into the tires. Shear off the heads and they make good ice studs.

Zap,

Check out SnowEx and Curtis Industries/SnowPro. They make UTV/Mid-size truck specific models. I've done a few FastCast 550's on the back of Gators and they work excelllent. Fast Cast 300 (and other gravity feed syle) works well for spreading salt/ice melt pellets but not sand.

Thanks for the links, we have them saved so we can look at them for next year.

I don't know about up there but our SnowEx dealer here offers the best pricing if you order early and he can order you a unit on his big Fall order.

More than likely, you arent going to find one small enough for a rhino that will spread sand effectively. Those types of units are big and heavy. This is as small as I'd go for sand. anything else, and it'll be a fight to keep it from jamming up.

Just looked up the bed capacity of the Rhino, only 400lbs. That means even less weight if it's hanging off the back in a receiver mounted spreader. If Zap is looking at any of the sanders I suggested, I'd be considering the tow behind or mounting one on a trailer. Rhino will tow over 1000lbs.

On another note, easy way to spread sand is pile it up and hit it with the snowblower......
