Last moth my stove began to squeal every time the auger would turn. After further inspection I had noticed the feed tube was cracked and a small piece of metal was scraping against the auger. Called the dealer and Harman replaced the entire auger feed tube and burn pot under warranty.

Two weeks later fuse blew on stove, dealer determined it was bad ESP probe, replaced it worked for 1/2 day blew another fuse dealer came back and replaced entire circuit board.

Two weeks later stove is squeaking again. I'm hundreds of dollars into repairs and it still is not working correctly. I'm totally frustrated and my dealer is not open to complain to. I've owned the stove for 4.5 years have had 2 ESP probes replaced 2 circuit boards replaced and the auger unit rebuilt. Is this thing a lemon? What are my options?

Thanks Dan

Find another dealer or wait around someone on here will help you when they find the time. How many more moths do you have or was that the last one.

Is that stove on a surge suppressor?

No its plugged directly into the outlet

Not good. The electronics in this stove are as sensitive (if not more), than the electronics in your PC or HDTV (which prob have a surge protector).

Even a Brown out, can severely damage a Board.

Please reference page 7 of the installation manual for your stove.

the common thing to cause the squeek is carbon mass in the burnpot, in the lower corners. You do not have a lemon. If the feeder was replaced, there is a chance (small) that the auger was not put in quite straight and may need to be adjusted....though this usually shows itself immediately after the auger is installed. Had you run the stove on a generator at all?

I agree that it's probably the auger rubbing against carbon at the end of the burnpot. However you also need to clean out the fines box on the side of the stove (on an Advance, it's on the right side, I'm not sure about the P68). You remove the cover for the right side of the stove, and you'll see a little metal cover with a wing nut holding it on. Take that cover off and vacuum the area out thoroughly, and I always spray some graphite lube in the area (or silicone or whatever I have handy).

Put the cover back on, start the stove up and see if that helps.

If it is carbon causing the auger squeal, that happens on mine more with extended low burns. This time of year and in the fall, I get them now and then. I blast it on highest heat setting for 30 minutes and it clears up.
Also, get that unit on a good surge protector !!!

edit: fines box is on the right side of this stove as well, above the ESP. It has a wing nut holding the cover on. Not difficult at all to access and should be checked whenever you clean the ESP

Speaking of surge protectors, any suggestions on the size, best brand, etc....I'm buying a new P68 in a few weeks and definitely will be utilizing a surge protector and am just wondering if there's a "best" brand/size to consider other than something off the shelf at a local hardware store.

Any UL listed one will do. Treat it like you would your computer or any other electronic device you want to protect. We got a new fridge and it was recommended we use one.
