Correct answer.... Too long

I came home today at about 1:30am... I let the stove go out overnight on Wed because it was 60 out... and I knew it was going to be warm on thrusday as well. I figured I'd start a fire friday when I get home (today). The house was 56 when I started the fire. It about 30 minutes in to the burn before the blowers actually turned on, and the house was at 66.
Start the fire on 3 and let it get going good, then turn it down to 2 and let it go. I bet it would've been a bit hotter if I burned it at 3 the whole time. This is the first complete cold start I've had in quite a while so I was curious. The convection deck was 500+ and some parts of the stove (the curved sides) were ice cold on the bottom half. The top half were slightly warm. After the blowers came on, I took the pictures then walked away to read some heath threads. About 3-4 mins later I walk back in the living room and I got that feeling like after you walk out of walmart on a 95 degree day. The heat just hits you like a ton of bricks. It was 75 after the blower turned on.... So I shut it down and will let the heat spread throughout the house ;)

Starting out.

I blame the dealer you bought the stove from!

20-30 minutes for our Chinook in the showroom also (going from memory).

I will probably fire it up tonight for tomorrow and I'll time it.

Haha good to see you around frank!

On the flip side though, the stove can be 100 degrees when cooling down and blowing cold air but it still will run.
Ive let the fire go out, swept the chimney and restarted the fire and its still warm enough for the blower.

Its a shame because my house was pretty much warmed up already by the time the blower actually turned on :)
I think its one of those snap disc types... i wonder where it is though and what temp it requires.

Im also curious about the actual stove top temps and not just the convection deck...

depends on if the APU starts up, right BB? but good news is when those 2 big overhead blowers do start up it moves a crapload of air ;-P

Ah the memories. Pressure's up. Ready on the "P" and standing by on one.

Two burning and six turning. Ramp's up. Let's rock and roll.

Thanks Mike.

(And apologies to everybody else. Reference is to Chinook helicopters starting up. My old ride.)

Hass, did you take the 5th picture lying on the floor on your back? That looks like it takes a good load of wood, its seems bigger than advertised.

haha, I had the camera angled up a little bit. I used the screen to get the cat in the picture.
I was holding the camera wayyy away from me, because the glass part of the stove was throwing off some serious heat. I felt like I would've spontaneously combusted if I got any closer. I'm sure some guys with a bigger BK or NC-30 definitely have that feeling when their stove is cranking... I can only imagine how hot it is with one of those stoves!

Takes a good bit of wood for sure. About the same amount as a princess does. The wood I had in there was willow/catalpa... Burned down really quick after only a half hour on 2... :)

Argh... the ol shithook  Surprised you don't have permanent shakes from riding those things.
