The Unistrut pipe channels I saw listed on Amazon.com come in shallow or deep versions. I am going to use them for supporting 1-1/2" black iron pipe on a wall. Is either type okay for this purpose? Are the clamps for either interchangeable?

Get the deep so your elbows and couplings clear the wall. I have mine run in all deep and yes the clamps will work on both.

We use both, depending on mounting clearances and pipe diameters of circuits and primary secondary loops. There are also 3 different size clamps for most pipe sizes, depends on wall thickness of pipe. Sch 10 thru sch 80
