Once my stove top temp gets to about 400 a bizzare humming noise emminates from the flue collar/ secondary tube area and goes away once the stove top hits 600ish.

Any ideas?

humms cause.......doesn't know the words? sorry, couldn't resist. wish i could help. could it be associated with the draft both in the stove or in the pipe? does it go away if you change the amount of draft? i know my steel summit creaks and groans as much as i do when i start it up or close it down from a hot fire. might be associated with material expansion and contraction.

Adjusting the draft didn't do anything, it must just be expansion.

Yeah it is expansion. Most like actually coming from the heat shield.

I don't have a 13 but mine, when it gets up to that temp range starts to have a grinding noise when secondaries are blazing. May just be expansion and contraction.
