We all know how the media works. They are there to sell airtime, space, or what ever their media is. There are three sides to every story. Side "a" has a story, side "b" has a story and then there is what really happened. The media is not looking for "what really happened". That does not sell.

A pellet stove can not burn anything other than it's fuel if the stove was installed and maintained correctly. Period. Done. Nothing more to preach.

Excuse me as I slide my soap box in the closet.

Eric

Sorry Eric that is blatantly incorrect.

Any heat producing appliance with a defective design or parts can burn a house down to the ground. Regardless of installation and maintenance, you can take that to the bank.

I will state that in another manner in case you didn't get it if it produces heat by any means it can burn your house to the ground.

Come out of the closet Eric!
Most of the American public believes everything that is printed or aired from the media!
Especially if it is a subject that bothers them. I am in one of the most twisted news worthy federal agency's around.
The misquoted misreported Bull$4!t that they spew is insane. We are monitored daily on camera and can prove them wrong, but they still misquote and misreport everything that is brought to their attention by another consumer that hates us!

My soap box is placed in the corner not the closet for easier access!

Bill

Eric, I agree 99.99% of the time. There are a few (VERY FEW) cases of product failure causing fires. I am sure that the possibility for electrical failure could cause a fire. You have to remember that anything manufactured has the potential to have catastrophic failure.

Agree 100% on the media aspect.

On the other statement proper installation and maintenance just makes it much less likely. You could still get a perfect storm of elelectrical and mechanical failure that could lead to disaster....like many other things we use day to day but take for granted.

"soap box" so that's what the young people are calling it today.

Human error, Yep! see that a ton lately! Mechanical error happens too! Like hi limits sticking closed and Traics failing causing over feed. Nothings pefect and chit happens!

You can have one on me DD. A little tired just got back from skiing, One of these days I might just be too old for that sport, but I still enjoy it.

Wow, what a day/night. I had a couple twelve packs to many.

Yes there can be a mechanical defect in any appliance that can create a fire.

But, in your defense, I'll add that a mechanical defect would probably be caused by a "people".

Not just pellet stove either. A house in our neighborhood burned to the ground last year. The reported cause was a plug in air freshener that ran dry, overheated and caught fire.

My pellet stove is HW and SW controlled but that dose not mean that a failure in those system wouldn't cause it to overheat and catch the pellets in the hopper on fire, resulting in something much larger then a pellet catching fire.

The media? Lie? Oh no, never happen. Journalistic integrity and all that. Of course, most of them are vapid empty shells with IQ's on the far left of the bell curve but how could that matter..... RT
