Of the last 4-5 scrounges all have had some or pretty much all of it was Ash. I picked up three different scrounge's lastnight alone. Along with ash, I picked up some hedge, oak, and mulberry too. But the last pick a continuation from the night before, I had some big wood. The tree fell last June, during the microburst that we had. It was partially cut up too. I picked up all the smaller pieces the night before, but went back lastnight for the big wood. Here are some pics.

The wood looks bigger than the tractor ! Nice score.

I'm starting to feel very old . . . the members here nowadays are looking younger and younger. ;)

No shortage of Ash here either. I've got at least seven trees I could get right now, some here and some scrounges. Just a question of time...I've got some other stuff I'm cutting and processing now.
Plus I've got this pile to split and stack, mostly Ash with a bit of Red Maple (big rounds and splits) and a little Oak.

Yep my little helper. Trying to get him to learn how to operate the tractor, even though his legs aren't quite long enough to touch the brake pedal effectively. But he helps with operation of the loader, my extra set of arms. Starting to work good now.

Yea, there was four of those chunks. I didn't really want to cut them up in his yard, so I was hoping X720 had enough guts to do it. There was only one chunk that it questioned. I figured that one probably weighed about 600-700 pounds. The rest probably weighed in about 400 to 500 lb.

I was gonna ask if your parents knew that you were out on the tractor alone. ;-)

Are those Ash trees victims of Ash Cooties?? :vampire:

Looks like that ash was also cut last summer. Those are a joy to cut up and split. Looks like it was a pretty good load for the tractor too. Bet that thing comes in mighty handy.

Hey Woody, we probably still have about 70 left to cut and we've been at this for almost 10 years now. Still hurts....

To original poster, what tools are used to split those gigantic pieces of wood? I'm finding collecting firewood to be a fun past time, meeting neighbors, getting exercise, and collecting heat!
