Are Enviro Milan and Empress inserts basically the same stove?

I've noticed that the performance specs for the Milan and Empress are identical. This leads me to believe that it is the same stove just with different styling on the front. In other words they have the same design, same fans, same auger moter, etc. Is that correct?

The reason I ask is that I'm having a hard time finding reviews for the Milan (I guess it's newer) while I have found lots of reviews of the Empress. Many of the Empress reviews are poor and I'm wondering if that applies to the Milan as well?

The Milan replaced the Empress IIRC...

The Enviro line itself is pretty good (all around).

What size space are you looking to heat with it?

I bought the Enviro Milan this year. I was told by the dealer that the Empress and Milan are the exact same stove. The only difference is cosmetics. He said if I didn't mind the black cast iron look to go with the Milan because it's the same stove. I think the Empress was about 3-$400 more than the Milan. I liked the look of the Milan so I went with that and saved myself a couple of hundred dollars. If you want the nicer looking front the Empress offers then you have to ask yourself if it's worth the extra money but they are the same stove.

I don't know how far along you are in your search but I love the Enviro Milan, and Enviro in general. The dealer also told me, after I bought the stove, that Enviro's are very good stoves and they are a great company. They back their product and are easy to deal with if issues arise. That being said, the one thing I don't like about the Milan is the ash pan is VERY small. You need to clean it every night, it doesn't matter what you burn the ash pan is so small that it needs cleaning every day. It's not a big deal but I wish I would have known. I would have gotten a stove with a bigger ash pan.

Ash pan is an issue I wish I had considered more, when selecting my stove (empress). I usually have to empty mine every 3 days during the heart of the season with geneva, every 3-5 with okies.

How high do you let the ashes get? As soon as it's touching the burn pot I clean them out. I'm wondering if I can let them keep piling up?
