MWP's are currently on clearance for $2.25 per bag at Shaw's Supermarkets.

Just grabbed 64 bags from Shaws for a grand total of $144

Nothing left in that store location except 2 empty pallets.

Good Luck. Every pig for himself !

How's the saying go....right place - right time. Just happened to be there to pick-up some bread and saw the clearance sign on the pellets. I had them scan one bag at the register just to make sure the pricing was correct. Once confirmed, I purchased the remaining 63 bags and had them drag the pallet and a half into the backroom until I could swap the Camry for my Minivan. Three trips later.....my shed is full of MWP's. Store manager said most Shaws locations got hung with wood pellets this year due to the warm winter, so many Pigs on this forum should be able to fill their pens if they act quickly.

No, I haven't burned any MWP's this year. Mostly Stove Chow and Okies. I burned about 10 bags of MWP's 2 years ago and found them to be a pretty good shoulder pellet. I figured at $2.25 per bag I'd have my shoulder pellet supply for the next two years. How are the MWP's burning this year?

wow,,,what a steal !!

i was at my local TSC and they had MWP for 5.00 a bag

Can't get them in Maine that cheap.

Just called 2 local Shaws. Spoke with 2 different "Tuuhhhh whhaaaaat?" teenagers and a store manager. I was told it isn't chainwide : (

great deal. did just fine w/ those all year. 16 below was as low as we got. so above normal. but at even the price i get 'em at, i just throw a few more bags in when it gets cold. and it's still a great pellet value imo.
though i am also getting two ton of the mwp softies this year. i'm going to be extremely stingy w/ those though. say 10 below before i throw them into the mix.

How are the MWP's burning this year?

I burned from a few batches at TSC and found them all pretty similar. Heat was ok and ash was not bad(volume looks high, but weight is very low). A bit better than a shoulder for me. I could get by all season with them if needed. Very low fines and little dust.

Let us know what you think when you burn some?

Just grabbed the last nine bags from another nearby Shaws. As someone else pointed out, the $2.25 per bag clearance price is not chainwide. Regular price with a Shaws loyality card is $5.00 per bag or $249 per ton (if they still have a ton in stock). The store has to overide the price with the "seasonal clearance code" (used for plastic sleds, snow shovels, rock salt, snow brush's etc). I had to show the night manager in this new store location my receipt from the earlier purchase to get him to honor the $2.25 per bag price. Hitting a couple more stores tomorrow morning before Pellet Pig Nation takes to the streets.... :)

+1
I'd buy more MWP if I had the room....which we all know is BS. Funny how floor space seems to become available when cheap pellets are around.
Glosta- thanks for the heads up at Shaws.

That's one heck of a deal on MWP's. As subsailer stated above, we can't get them here in Main for anyway near that price, $4.49 to $5.00 average this year. I burned about 20 bags of them last March/April and they were Ok, temps for me were around 200-225 but they smoked up my door glass a lot and had more ash than average. Mine were " factory fresh", they were being unloaded off the truck when I was there and they were still warm in the center of the pallet. The factory is only a little over an hour away.

Very good buy on some better pellets. I hope your experience burning them is as impressive as your bargin. I never seem to be in the right place for those type of deals, but I really can't complain. I have been able to get them from SIB for a reasonable price. Enjoy!

My local Shaws is loaded with them. Problem is they are listed at $4.99, the Manager said he didn't anticipate a clearance price drop. Also said that all stores are independent when it comes to stuff like that.

I'm not buying that they won't drop, I'm going to have to keep an eye on them. I want to guess that he's going to hold tight for a bit because it's chilled down this week.

I'll be watching and waiting to pounce! ;)

We have no Shaws any longer here in CT.
The local Big Y has pellets BUT Inferno brand......rings the bell??
