I leave this to my local shop...this year though they are getting $189 a cleaning and in my case plus the chimney guy to do the flue outside (6" liner after the old damper)

How much for a yearly cleaning/oiling etc?

Hi Salty

Typically in this area $150 to $200 is a nominal charge for your yearly pellet stove cleaning.

The yearly cleaning should include cleaning the combustion blower with a new new gasket and oil and cleaning the convection blower.
This is critical to prolonging the life of these blowers and keeping your stove running.

I have cleaned these blowers and show in the following links the steps and tools involved with before and after pics so you know it is done right!!

I also include the liner or any other exhaust venting.

My last paid cleaning was 2 years ago for $160, that was for one stove. Now I have two stoves and it cost nothing as I do it myself. More money saved, gotta like that.

I admit to paying for cleaning the hot air furnace and the separate oil fired hot water heater, I don't have the equipment or know the parameters that are used for that heating equipment. But for cleaning the pellet stove, there was so much shared on this forum, and so many step by step demo's on you tube, that doing my own cleaning was just another part of owning a pellet stove. The bonus is that when you do you own cleaning you get a better understanding why it is so important to keep the stove clean for good heat output. This also helps you determine what quality of pellet you want to select and more to chat about on this forum!

My dealer travels 25 miles each way and charges $145.00. That includes all the exhaust venting. He does a very thorough job.

I pay the oil guy 120 to clean the flue for the oil burner but the
pellet stove venting have been cleaning myself since new.

I do all my own cleaning and servicing of my pellet stove and my oil furnace.
I operate and maintain large marine power plant boilers for a living. I just couldn't hire someone else to service my little oil furnace. My co-workers wouldn't let me forget it, if they found out! ;lol

Last time was $140. No chance I'll pay someone again for it. The guys didn't seal my exhaust vents tight last time around, and stripped screws at the same time.

It is pretty much free except for the cost of beer. I have the chimney brushes and all the other tools to do the cleaning, with 2 stoves it is cheaper for me to do the work.

I have two service plans. The annual service which is $175 and the Contract which is $299. The annual service is a complete tear down of the stove and cleaning of the venting to the outside air. My contract has the annual service and an additional cleaning mid-winter (just the stove exhaust and venting) to restore performance at a time when you need it most. Often, this visit will be used to troubleshoot a problem or fix something, thus avoiding the service call fee. These plans are pre-paid and are at a set price. A regular visit is between $195 and $290 for the first 1.5 hrs, depending on your zone, and then $95 per hr thereafter.

150.00 around this area, but as others have mentioned I just do my own.

I have a Qudrafire Insert (4100I) and have swept the 6" SS Liner from the room the first 4 years. I am too old (and wise) to go on my steep roof or climb a 40' ladder to get to the cap, however. I have inspected the cap with binoculars and can see through the screen and have assumed it is thus not blocked. However, I am considering having a sweep in to go from the top down, sweep into the firebox. I haven't yet talked with any service, but I frequently see "Insert Extra"... which is nonsense for the 4100I which is more like sweeping into an airtight stove. The sweep does not "pull" the insert to clean...if should be a "snap" for anyone able to get to the top of the chimney. I'd do it myself if I had single story or if the roof was not so steep.

We charge 92 for pellet stoves (Unless they are super dirty then it is 122) and between 62-82 for woodstoves etc

Not sure how much it costs around my area... I think the last time the dealer called (2 years ago) it was around $175 for a 'complete' cleaning. It doesn't cost me anything since I do it on my own, even during the winter 1-2 times to keep things efficient. There is enough advice and pictures in these forums that you should be able to do it yourself. The manual should also provide diagrams etc. for you to follow. Now, my venting is much easier since it is a direct vent out the back of my house, so no ladders or chimneys for me.

Mine was over $200, I think I got ripped off. I'm not sure I'll go back to that guy. Really don't feel like cleaning it myself but might have to.

I have been charging $150 for complete stove and venting, maybe I should go up.

Always cleaned my own stoves, but the locals advertise their spring cleaning around $185

Cleaned and done. $239 for 6" liner and complete stove cleaning. They looked very thorough to me. I used All in One Chimney Svc out of Uxbridge Ma

I just paid $189+Tax, dealer traveld about 1hr one way. He didn't do a whole lot different than I do when I do my yearly cleaning, so next year I think I will be saving the $$. It was the first time I had it professionally cleaned & Serviced though so it was comforting that my stove is still in pretty good shape! Of course now this year I will probably need to do a whole bunch of repairs because I said that!

Did he change any gaskets?

Did he change any gaskets?

Nope, I even asked him if my gaskets looked ok? I was talking about the one on the door. He said they all looked fine, which I was a bit surprised at. I figured after my 4th burning season I would at least need a gasket on the door.

On one hand I was glad all was ok (according to the service tech). On the other I feel a bit ripped off since all he did was what I normally do. The only thing he did that I can't is hook up the sensor to the control panel that tells him when the blowers turn on at certain temps, I don't have that tool.

I guess I can't really complain, they did what they said the were going to do and charged me what they said they were going to. I just wonder how many service calls I will need to have in my 5th burning season.
