was burning some stoves today it got a little toasty! http://a.yfrog.com/img875/5403/lgpfr.jpg

I STRONGLY ADVISE NOT TO RUN A STOVE IN THIS MANNER IN A HOME ENVIRONMENT, THIS TEST FACILITY IS CONSTANTLY MONITORED AND IS ONLY USED FOR SHORT TERM TESTING. PLEASE DO NOT OPERATE A STOVE IN YOUR HOME IN THIS MANNER!

Nice! Must have a pretty decent ventilation system to handle all those BTU's.

got a great big howling exhaust fan behind me as i took the picture it was running flat out, outside temps were about 83F in that trailer (its a converted "reefer" ) it was every bit of 110F those 6 "25-EPI inserts were running at half throttle (5-5)

i use this "burn trailer" to do day to day testing on stoves ive reworked as well as the daily "pull from production at random "QA" test burns" as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure what we ship is up to the standards of our product lines. i have a full blown 6 inch flue system in that trailer as well to burn woodstoves (then it really gets smokin hot in there!) i'll have to get an outside shot of it to post here. shot that one on a whim and tweeted it @xarmynsdq

The code police are likely to be here shortly.

I must ask do you have a waiver looks like those stoves aren't on suitable bases.

LOL I don't envy the guy that has to fill those stoves up every day....

lmao, hardly, but they are fine for what im doing and they are certainly not burned unattended, local fire marshal gave it the once over and was ok with it as long as we "behaved" you cant see in the pic but i have exactly 3 fire extinguishers in that trailer. its overkill but it is what it is, the stoves in there arent gonna burn long enough on those pallets to cook the wood out enough to ignite it even the inserts wont

We have to keep things on the up and up. Dexter got scooped by smoke show on this in the other thread. Just wanted folks to understand this is in a controlled test environment and isn't something they should emulate.

I don't want to have to go stomping out forest fires caused by pellet stove burners. I'm getting to old for that.

that would be me, its actually pretty fun playing with fire all day

Hahaha Real Hot in the Summer ! That's one of the best aspects of this forum, we all like to play with Fire and Drink Beer !

no sweat smokey. not a bad thing at all you brought it up. i shot and posted the picture to give the gang in here a glimpse of what i do working in this industry. i certainly do not endorse or condone operating a stove in the manner i depicted in a home environment! the testing i do is under controlled monitored conditions, in a home environment this is seldom the case. good call on the post smokey, you reminded me that i should place some kind of disclaimer on posts like this. thanks bro!

Did not know there was a code for pellet stove in a TT unit. Its Mobile not a dwelling. ==c

Frequently putting a heating device into any structure mobile or fixed, a dwelling or not, will fall under code of one kind or another, such is the way of government. You'll note that they had the fire marshal in to inspect things.

Testing facilities are likely to have even more requirements.

Out of curiosity, what do you guys do with the stoves after testing is complete? Are they cleaned and sold as "factory tested" units or "demos"?

the stoves i test are either units pulled at random from new stock or unts which were returned product which i and a few of my techs (same guys you would talk to in my support shop in the winter if you needed a hand with one of my units) inspect repair as needed detail clean test burn clean again if they pass burn testing and are sold through a few of our dealers who sell refurbished stock (AMFM ENERGY is the biggest dealer on these units). http://www.amfmenergy.com/ some of the gang in here have actually bought and are using these units usually you can get a pretty sweet deal on a stove that has been refurbished by my staff or myself, Andy (the owner of AMFM) is a really good guy to deal with as well.

the stoves in the picture were actually refurbished stock being tested to see if they "meet my standard"

Out of curiosity, what kind of pellets do you use?

Thanks Dexter. FYI. after hearing the origin of your screen name, I chuckle everytime I see you on here.

Andy at AMFM is great! I called to ask some questions about the shipping and he was out of the office so he asked me to email my questions with my phone number and he called me with in half an hour with the answers to my questions. I bought my stove from his web site on a Sunday and the stove was at the local freight terminal the follow Friday morning. I'm 1500+ miles from Va.! The USPS takes longer than that to get a check to me from five miles away.
