big old oak!!!

a friend of mine and I ran into this old oak on his cousins farm and it was big the prices in the pic that were cut made two eight foot bed fulls split that's his homemade splitter in the pic. The log lift was a life saver!!!

Ok I know that oak firewood is generally passed on to grandkids because it takes that long to season, but would this be an exception?

Ready to burn today. The wettest of it has gotta be under 18%. When the bark is gone, it's pretty dry. Would be even drier if still standing.
 
That was a big ol oak for sure. And you buddy does very nice work. That splitter is a beauty. The only thing missing is an outfeed table.
 
Looks like that one needed to come down.
