Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about where to locate a 500 gallon LP tank. I've been searching for about a month with no luck. Called all the propane dealers, listed on wanted ad's. I've even tried to buy new. I can't believe how hard it is to find them. I live in Maine............any ideas. I thought i'd see how people came across theirs here.

Thanks,
Nelson

I got some a couple years ago from Colby and Gale (propane dealer) in Damariscotta. 1-207-563-3414.
Took me a while to track some down, too.

If you're not in a big hurry... I may have a line on a couple. Already built onto legs. They have been used for waste motor oil storage. Price shouldn't be too bad. I haven't laid eyes on them. But I got mine from the same guy. PM me if interested.

Did you try the salvage yards ? LOts of them around here but shipping would probably kill you.

I drive by a metal recycling place on my way to work. I noticed the other day on the top of one of their piles that they had two thousand gallon LP tanks. If there are some close by, maybe check with them.

I live in Central Maine. it took me a few years but I finally found what I wanted on Craigslist. That said, there are a few scrapyards in Vermont that have used propane tanks. I forget their name but if you search this forum you should be able to find the name and number. The name and number have been listed several times. Be prepared to pay top dollar because of the price of scrap right now.

Ascutney, Vt Hodgdon Bros. I got mine from them a few years ago. They are very laid back, use same approach with them. They get them in many at a time and then nothing for a while. Tell them you looking to store water. They will put your name on what your looking for when they get some in. However you need to call every couple weeks because they won't call you even if you left a number. Take some blue spray paint and write WATER on them for transport.

Thanks everyone I actually bought one from someone here on forum

I'm also in the market for two 1000 gal tanks in the Southern New England area. Also, wondering if anyone has the drawings for the fitting locations etc.

Many thanks!
