Feeling the Heat

Just finished the final year end complete stove cleaning today. Vaced , scraped , blew ,

all the dirty little dust particles that had collected . Only burned 126 bags this season[ out of 175 ] , my lowest in 7 years of burning pellets. I could get used to this kind of winter, but I lost a lot of cash from only plowing 9 times this year, two years before I plowed 41 in 09/10 and 37 times in the 10/11 winter season. So I saved on heating , but lost on plowing OT.

I'd say us Northern New England guys, have another month of moderate use.

Nice. This winter was cake but like silverfox103 said, we have around another month of light use. I hear ya on the plowing. Sucks.

Still light burns at night and maybe one during the day. Its 43° outside right now and the Quad has kicked on once since this morning....

Not quite time yet... But its getting closer everyday.

Unless you live pretty far North, I think everyone had a light isage year. Im just over 2 ton (almost 3 cord of wood). Burned 4-4.5 in past years.

Well with a forecast like this I guess the burning will continue.....

I won't bother with a spring full do until mid may JIC. Heck last season we even had some days in june that were pretty cool enough to have a quick fire warm up. Luckily the we just sucked it up and grabbed a blankie.

OK, so it's not just me still burning (saw the title and got worried that I didn't get the memo about official end of season ;)

I have had the stove on hi/lo all last night and today. We got some snow and it was just raw. Nice and toasty in here at 75ºF. Its supposed to warm tomorrow, So I am sure I'll go back to auto/off in the morning.

Still burning in the evenings and rainy days here, looks like a few more weeks of late Winter...

Mine just shut down, it cycles a few times a night, I turn it off when I get up and go to work and then on in the evening. It takes a while to get the concrete blocks warmed up so it is still chilly inside at times. Been in for 2.5 weeks and am on my third bag. I almost can't wait for winter to come around again.

I'm running on-off right now, but on low setting (3-3)....house is a nice 70-71, and cozy. End of the burning season for me is when the inside of the house will stay at 68 or above by itself.

During that warm snap, I used one bag in a week. This past week, I went through 5 bags.

The CT average May low is 49, so I imagine I'll be burning lightly until the end of May (though I'm a new burner and have no experience to back up that prediction).

20 this AM. Our house will not stay at 68! Stove on.....

Still have the home fires burning. Old man winter can grumble all he wants spring always wins, always has.

Sure you do! You live in New England ; ) .....unless you just moved here.

Only 15 bags left out of 160 and I hope I have enough to last. The weather is now more spring like and it is a bit nippy at night. Unlike you pellet pigs I only buy once a year and do not have a giant stash to rely on.

Still burning, and cleaning, and cleaning, and cleaning. Have to get those Energex used up so I can replace them with next year's stash.

Still burning gets chilly at night, got a few more weeks of burning. I am in no rush to shut them down.

No way, I have to wait for the boss to say it's too hot in here and open up all of the windows.

The sun is pretty strong nowadays. I've been getting by on around 1/2 bag a day as long as the sun is out. The house will hit near 70 during the day from solar heating and then start cooling down till at around 9pm I get the old Harman Invincible fired up in stove temp mode, lowest setting, with about 1/3 bag in hopper. I time it so it's around 63 degrees on wakeup. Stove's out by around 11a.m. and the cycle starts over again, probably until around May 1. I can tweak the procedure by varying amount of pellets put in hopper and/or when I start up evening fire. The Invincible is not auto but I don't mind.

For a minute, I though smoke was taking some other stuff that comes in bags! ;em

About a bag(of pellets) every 3 days. Warm enough during the day, But its been pretty cool at night. I don't think the shoulder stack is gonna make it! Gonna pick up 8 to 12 bags from TSC to hopefully ride out the rest of the season. I'd better grab them now, Before they stop selling them. Of coarse the price went up to $4.97/bag. Errr could of got them for almost a buck less 3 weeks ago, But it was to during the warm spell and hoped I wouldn't need anymore!
