I am looking to pick up a used one at a pretty reasonable price from the info that I can find. Does anyone have one of these, and how do they like cutting with it? Any problems I should know about before going ahead with purchase? The saw is on ebay and I am a bit skeptical about buying with out actually running it, but the seller does have 100% feedback with others buing saws from them with no complaints. The pictures show a saw that looks like it was babied and only used for homeowner use cutting firewood. Im just wondering if I should go with this or possibly wait to get a new 372xp. Thanks in advance.

How much is it? Is it this one? If so it looks pretty clean. It has 25 bids already, I bet it goes up in price substantially. I don't know much about the 371 admittedly. I have cut over 10 cord of wood with my 372 XP saw, probably significantly more. Almost all the paint is gone from my bar and I have broken no pull cords nor replaced any sprockets.

I would not be fearfull of the new Xtorq 372 or the Stihl 441 either. You wont like the price of the new ones as much. I paid $550 for my used 372 with just a little paint missing off the bar.

If you can confirm compression or get a picture of the piston through the exhaust port, I'd pull the trigger if the price is good. If it looks babied, it probably was. I'm not sure what the differences between it and a 372, except for the side chain adjust. I don't think there are enough upgrades on the 372 to pass up a very nice 371.

Yea, I got it. Now anxiously awaiting it's delivery. I sure hope this was a good buy.

Well, got the new (to me) 371xp just the other day. Finally had a chance to get it together and fire it up and all systems are a go. Compression seems to be very good and had it cutting some wood today with no problems. Very powerful and fast cutting, gonna get a gauge for checking compression this week as well as a new chain.
