Had a tree co. come out today and take down three huge maples, the pic is the largest one on its way down. It was pretty dangerous as you can see it split into 4 pieces when it came down. Now I get to use the new 28inch bar in the Dolkita. timber.jpgcrack.jpg

Yep that needed to come down. Wish you woulda called me, I need to break in my overhauled Stihl 051AV! This would have been the perfect job for it!

Used the Makita 6401 cut threw it like butter, Tree was close to the road and was pretty rotten plus there was another just to the right of where the picture was taken from that was 4 ft from a powerline so I let someone that was experienced and insured take it down. The type of luck that I have it would have fallen into the road.
But Scotty if you still want to break in the saw come on up there is plenty left from the other two trees. I have to work all weekend but the stove likes 16 inch lengths thanks for offering.

How many weeks or months worth of firewood do you figure you'll get from the 3 trees? We sure appreciate maple here.

Weeks or months I am hoping for years, LOL. I thinking about 3 cord maybe more. so It should be good for a year or so. I will let you know in a couple of weeks when they are cut split and stacked

Deck, looks like a good tree to work on, is that a Sugar Maple?

Beech and Sugar Maple are the wood we go to when we hit that cold spell, nice.

It was really stringy, Have a neighbor that came over with his 27ton splitter (Thank GOD) I beat on it with the fiskars and all it did was bounce off. First thing I have really not been able to split with that axe. I am sure if I let it dry out a little bit the Fiskars would have had a chance.
