I went to buy parts, once again, for the old Ariens zero turn, and went home with this.... 2012-04-05_16-23-45_230.jpg

Didn't take much convincing, and they are offering 0% financing for 48 months. I just mowed for the SECOND time, and didn't have to fix it. I won't know what to do with all my spare time.

Very nice, I just bought a Bad Boy CZT 6000. Huge difference from my old simplicity landlord. Cut my mowing time by about 2/3rds.

It's a pretty nice mower. It has some commercial-like features, and the blade speed is around 17k, I think. In fact, it has a one year commercial/three year consumer warranty. The Kawasaki engine is nice and smooth, too. I was at the dealer yesterday picking up the rest of my parts, and he said they are flying out the door. I know mine came out of a crate, and he said he sold the two he had on the floor the day before. I guess the financing is pretty hard to beat. The only downside is that it doesn't fit between my wood stacks.

I turned my six and nine year olds loose in the backyard for a few minutes last night. It's surprising how natural these things are to drive. They had a ball. Maybe I'll let them mow someday. I'm actually kinda enjoying it right now.2012-04-06_17-39-09_82-1.jpg

Thats nice! While there isn't grass to cut yet in this area, I did get my 7 yr old lawn tractor out. Wouldn't start. Replaced the battery, still wouldn't start, replace the starter solonoid, Started, then stalled, had the starter rebuilt, started then stalled. Battery would not charge (connected) Replace it again. started then stalled out. I now think I have a short somewhere. Hate electrical issues. Saw a nice new red tractor at Sears. Very tempting, but not for now. Need to send Obama a check, so no new tractor for me for awhile. Didn't think I would have to do that now that I am retired, but so much for what "thought" did. So I have been watching vids on youtube seeing how to do a electrical trace to find my problem.

I love mowing - it gives me a couple of hours of no-brainer activity just riding around in circles, using a large power tool. And the lawn looks good when I'm done.

I saw a nice new red mower at sears a few years back. it's broke. I will have to fix it. Would go elsewhere for
any power equipment. lowes usually have a good selection of riding mowers.
anyway, does your tractor have a altenator that charges the battery ? maybe the altenator ? as for stalling,
is that the carb or old gas ?

My sons came here with their families for Easter dinner. They went outside and a few minutes later I saw my tractor being driven around the yard. They stopped and restarted it several times. I asked what they had found. They said the float was stuck. They told me there was a little knocking, so perhaps I should keep an eye out for another machine. Good boys!

Sorry about that 7 year old tractor. My 40 year old IH Cub Cadet is running fine, and so was the 44 year old one that I sold last month.

Try going to mytractorforum.com , pick your brand from the main page (under "Lawn and garden tractors by brand"), and go to that forum. Do a search on charging problems, or ask your questions. Plenty of nice helpful people there, you'll git 'er done in no time.

Doesn't sound like it's electrical. Throw a spark tester on it. If it doesn't stop sparking while the engine coasts down, your problem is most likely fuel/carburetor related.
