I finally got my eko 25 set up and running yesterday with my 500 gallon storage. I was just wondering if anyone else has a creosote issue. I seem to have an awful lot of it in the upper burn chamber. I don't have a moisture meter but my wood is season for over a year. The wood boiler is in my basement and the creosote is bad enough that I can smell it when I come into the house. I'm hoping that its because the storage tank isn't up to temp yet? Not helping with the temps being so warm this time of year either.

Welcome Nelson!! First we should cover lots of things...LOL wood seasoned 1 year means nothing for a gasser. If its oak then you still have about 2 years to go before its seasoned. You need to know how much moisture is in the wood you are trying to burn. Second your boiler will take a few burns to dry out the refractory. 3rd If its in your house you need to see if your door seals are leaking. All of this has been talked about tons here. Do a search on adjusting door seals. If your boiler is running full out while charging your tanks your burn chamber should be clean even with warm temps. Is your boiler going into idle mode?

Hi Rob,
I'm burning maple for wood. The door seal did have a gap that i fixed it seems to be fine now. We had to fill the tank put the solution in it then empty it again which we are doing now. I was thinking maybe it was a problem until we get this tank filled back up and can run it full out. There was so much creosote and it smelled so bad in here i think it caused a panic.I didnt notice many other people mentioning an issue with it so I wanted to check. I'll be running it full out as soon as I get this tank filled up for the last time. I think i do have to pick up a moisture meter.

Thanks for the reply

Yeah it will smell for sure. Lots of people here have them in there house but you just have to figure out how to load it to get the least amount of smoke. I have it in a pole barn and it still stinks it up from time to time. You might want to think about installing a smoke hood to help.

Sealing all joints in the piping from boiler to the chimney with high temp silicone made a difference for me. It doesn't take much of a leak to smell things up!
