NIce pics. Red oak is about the only wood i split with a maul and enjoy it. Love the smell also

+1. I also enjoy splitting by hand and on several occasions been caught smelling fresh splits by my wife. She thinks I'm nuts when I do that.
 
Very nice! Love splitting that stuff by hand. And about you smelling the splits. Go ahead and sniff away. Tell the wife that's how you judge the age and quality of the wood. Kind of like a nice Merlot. LOL

Darn it.. when you said that you were "Done with Red Oak" I thought that you meant that you didn't want it anymore. Like a good hearth.com member, I was going to offer to take it off your hands.;)
