Was JUST at BT in CT, and they just unloaded a truckload of the Maine Softwood pellets.

Get some.........

Forgot to ask. Sorry. Place was hopping for mid week. He said they had mixed reviews from previouse orders they got in. Mostly chinker complaints. I bought a ton of Vermont Softwoods. Hopefully they perform well.

With the blend going for $245. I am betting the softies will be $260 or more.

Hmmm, so my dealers' price of 235 blend and 249 softie isnt all that bad. Good to know. Not SIB pricing, but I cant get from them: too far away

MWP Softwood are basically the same as the Vermont Softwood. They both use the same material, and same process, die cutter.

good to know, can someone else confirm if the Vermont softies are the same?

I wouldn't say that they are the exact same. But they could be close. I hope ScotL can explain this a bit more. But IMHO, there are several variables that can effect the end pellet. Density and size along with moisture content are just a few. Not to mention the difference in the actual die and the machine its in.

who is scotl??? does he work for mwp???

I have about a 1/2 ton left of MWP with the log cabin on the front. Are those the soft or mix? If the mix I t hink I'll pick up some of the soft because I tried the Vermonts and was very happy with those

The log cabin bags are the blend. The softwood pellets are clearly marked Softwood. I doubt if you'll find them any cheaper than the $239 delivered price that SIB out of North Jay is selling them for.

agreed, given SIB's proximity to the mill......we got some in, but other than looking at "the numbers", I cant tell you how they are compared to other softwoods.....

Didn't say they were exactly the same, but they must be comparable. Both use pine (primarily) and some spruce, and I was told that they use the same die.

Yep, We don't need to split hairs here. They should be close. Just stating the variables tis all. ;)

the bad thing is that cool weather should be leaving us soon, hopefully we should test a couple bags before then..

If I can't get to them now, I'm burn them early fall. Heck if its a "must see" for you, I can always open a window downstairs. I'll warm up the neighborhood so we can all go swimming early. ==c

I'm looking forward to seeing the results. I have 2 tons coming Friday.

:p:p

Ifi get them this Friday you can have him stop by in the afternoon or i can bring the 2 bags to his house, fine with me. What ya have for trading? ;)

Think you will be Burning those Maine softies tonight ? Upper 20's your way tonight !

I won't be. I already capped my vent. If the wife complains about being cold I'll have to just pull the cap off and put the nozzle back on. If we do use the stove, I'll be burning up the rest of a bag of Greene Team that I have opened. Still have a handful of them left from winter. My pellets for next year are still packaged in the garage.
