In The Woods
We had some dead white pine that needed felling around the house so we took down five that will become shoulder season wood.

The branches will be chipped up then used in the area we will be stacking the white pine, the area needs chips to level it off.

I wish I had your endless supply of trees

Nice work ZAP. I have been getting a little creosote lately. I think it is from the white pine I have been burning. I thought it was dry enough. I am going to let it dry longer. I will wait until next winter to burn any more of it. I have tasted some good syrup from my area down here. Bought a couple gallons for the wife and kids. I have been hearing good quality, but not a lot of it down here. How was it up by you?

I talked with a guy that taps over 30,000 trees, he did 1/3 of what he usually does in a year. How long was your pine seasoned?

Thanks

Cord wood was stacked last April. That was okay. But I tried to burn some slab wood I got from the Amish a little too early. Some of the smaller stuff of that was okay. But the bigger stuff needed to dry until next winter. I knew better. Just thought I could get away with it. Live and learn. It really needs a full year outside after being split. More time is even better.

The woodlot is great but I find myself back in to much. The White Pine by the house need more attention, thinning and cutting the dead stuff so it looks better so if your ever in the area I'll put you to work.

Boy you don't stop, do ya? Every time i look you're chopping more stuff down.

Good for ya. How much do you have c/s/s?

I'll be sure to pack the saws

Not sure on the total cord count but 20 plus cord would be a good estimate. Looks like the shoulder season wood will be three years ahead once fall rolls around, beats hauling it to the wood dump.

The milling in the summer takes time away from the firewood but if I can grab another 1.5 cord before the snow falls I'll be happy.
