It got cool last week so I got a chance to test a couple bags of Omalleys and a couple bags of Powerhouse. These are cheap ($199) a ton.:) I'm new at this.. but I found them to be more ashy than the Lignetics I was burning. I had to run the stove on low, so that might have something to do with it. The guy at the outlet said they were the "same". They looked the same to me they were a little less dense than the Lignetics. I can't find the Lignetics for less than $275 around here.:( My Enviro Empress had about an inch of ash in the burn pot liner after burning about a bag of them, quite a bit more than the Ligs, heat seemed good.

Hi eglide99, I think what your seeing is the ash doesn't get blown out of the burnpot as well on low as it will on the higher settings because of the lower cfm the combustion blower runs at on low. Try turning it up to medium just before you shut it down as see if it has a it less ash buildup in the burnpot. Worth a try?

In my testing/reviews the Lig's actually had more ash(in both volume and weight) than the Great American(same as PowerHouse). O'malleys were right around the same as the lig's. This could also be batch variance as well. Each brand could fluctuate a little between batches.

Jay, did you post your test results of the Powerhouse? curious guy here....:p

I didn't post them on either site. They were right in line with the gap's(Great American) I burned last year. Guess I'm getting lazy in my old age? :p

If I could get O'Malleys here for 199 a ton, I'd buy a couple of ton. They were OK.. not great on heat output but OK( a decent shoulder pellet)..Our price here was 255 ton (my pickup) in 2010-11.That was a 70 mile roundtrip. This year,2011-2012 they were selling for 260-270. I didn't buy any ,was able to get closer and hotter burning stuff for less.

Thanks for the replys. I'm gonna pick up a ton of the Omalleys. I talked to a friend that has a pellet and he said the same thing you guys said ..burning on low for extended period of time makes his stove burn a little more dirty too. In this kind of weather running on high gets it too hot for the wife:) and that takes some real BTU's ;lol

Pretty sure I'm in for 2 tons of PowerHouse at $199/ton. Just need to get the boss's OK and I'm all in.

I'm putting my money with Jeff Nickols, He stood by his product and promply remedied the long pellet issue. I didn't even get an email back from Omalley when I found long pellet s and lots of them in the batch I burned. I'll put my money with someone that "gets it" and knows what we are looking for in a pellet!

I too purchased 2 tons of Power House for next year to go along with my 2 remaining tons of Turmans. I got the Power House for $198 a ton. Good pellets for the price and a local company for me as well.

Where did you find the powerhouse and omalleys in AA county? (If the omalleys have anything to do with our governer I dont want em) I'm looking for another ton.
