It's may 16th and i am forced to fire up my stove on low for the night just to keep the mrs. and my son warm! Beleve it or not its going down to 36 degrees tonight. Dont get me wrong,i love to see it run but it just seems wrong for some reason!

Invite Dexter over all that hot air should heat the place up... :p

Wow..... Invite a guy into the convo before you beat him up..

I will admit to dumping a bag of "Sets" into the hopper a minute ago. Its still 72° in here and the stove is set at 70° (2° swing/will kick on a 68°). It may not even kick on.... But if it does, its ready.

I got a Big Head... But its not full of Hot Air. Thats Barnyard. (Singing, if I only had brain/Wizard of Oz) ;)

Hi Barnyard
Just curious about your venting install for the baby countryside?

In the manual it shows outside 3 foot rise vertical venting and specifically states not recommended for cold climates! ! !

I have seen 2 installs like that around here and both had problems with getting the venting dirty real quick and smoking up the home and one had a hopper fire!
See link below! ! !

It's 36 here as I type this and I'm not burning my Quad has been off for 3 weeks , just closed the windows and its a comfortable 64 in here which I like for sleeping. I'll probably take the Quad apart this weekend and clean her all up for the summer and give her a coat of Pam spray while Im at it.. and I'm in Northeast Ohio as well...

They called for 36°… Then it changed to 40° when I went to bed.....

I have 2 outdoor weather stations. They both read about the same. Stove kicked on sometime around 3 (had to relieve myself) and then was on now when I am leaving for work. (Dont mind the time ;) ) 2012-05-17_05-17-04_161.jpg

Frost on the cars this morning, Didn't have the stove on so the house was a little chilly!

Might wanna straighten that weather station up a little Mad Dog!;)

Freeze warning tonight - low to mid 20's.

Don never had any venting issues or build up issues but i usually am pretty vigilant about my cleaning schedule. I have to admit though its been a ton or so since i cleaned her last. Going to vertical venting this winter. More less to see if i can make it a little more efficient with a little help from natural convection ;)

Started the stove again this morning, but supposed to warm up here the next few days......may be it till fall!!

it seems at least thinkable that the bag i put in the hopper last night could be the last one of the season.

so the morning of may 19th is the last day of burning season 1.
vacuumed out the hopper and auger channel
cleaned and uber sealed the flue and oak.
pulling the combustion motor in the next day or two.

my horizontal run terminates outside like 10 feet up.
the ps50 really has very few nooks and crannies.
so it's shop vac and flexible hose extension for me in lieu of the leaf blower treatment.

it's just too much of a pita to do otherwise.
once the combustion motor is out, i should be able to do a quite serviceable job of it.

large can of pam is on the shopping list.

this year is a pinch because i'm digging a garden out of the remains of the last ice age that pass for soil up here.
just got two tons of mwp softies this morning.
and the lawn needed mowing.

lol. it's the first full day of work i've put in since moving in. :D
gonna grab more beer then stow the pellets.
the pick axe and shovel can wait till tomorrow.

edit to add - just stowed the 2 ton of softies. feels good to have nearly a two year supply loaded in. :)
